Here's Chapter Two in our story about Norwegians fighting in WWII.
Today, on VE-Day, I will honor those men who fought in the
99th Battalion (Separate) US Army.
In the beginning there were mainly Norwegian-Americans, but later on, when the rumors spread about a Norwegian battalion, many Norwegians (especially sailors) stranded in the US and other parts of the world joined.

The battalion saw action in Europe from June 1944 and till the war ended.
In May 1945 it was sent to Norway to disarm the German forces.

After it returned to the US, it was disbanded.
