Luftwaffe signal bunker of Brias
At Brias in the Nord pas de Calais, about 22km north of Arras is a huge former Luftwaffe bunker. This place used to be a small Luftwaffe airfield and later an advanced signal post to report intruders and bomber streams. It also gave information to Gemran day fighters and Nightfighters.
The Luftwaffe garrisson was partly based at tthe local Chateau see link and story:
http://www.ww2museums.com/article/1413
In 1994 one of my friends visited the place and found some nice relics. The place was abandonned in September 1944 and the Germans threw a grenade on the material they could not take. He however found a few relics that survived the blast and were still there 50 years later. Yesterday he gave those to me.
They are Luftwaffe leaflets for ground radio operators (Funkers) to report intruding airplanes (number, date, type etc...) and there are also a few navigation coordonate grids. These documents are rare as you really do not expect to find paper work in bunkers after 50 years.

Re: Luftwaffe signal bunker of Brias
Cheers guys. I'm glad you like it. Now this is not all : my friend has also found some bigger items such as a burnt field telephone. I will get pictures of these and post them for you, but as usual allow me some time.

Re: Luftwaffe signal bunker of Brias
The entrance was clean, but when you go deeper in side the tunnels it gets dark and that's where you could find these. This was 14 years ago though.

Re: Luftwaffe signal bunker of Brias
No way Bigfun. No junk food. In fact it is not about taking pictures or time. It is about seeing my friend who is the owner of the other items. I will be away for a few days, but when I return it will be one of my priorities.
