Actually I was planning on posting some video of our forthcoming trip...

A few months ago I bought a digital camcorder which records on to an SD memory card, this makes transfering and uploading video a breeze.

So you can be sure of seeing some video footage of our trip, here on the forum...

I tried bringing up the trip under the guise of "hey, honey, let's go to France this summer". Once I got into how I had no desire to go to Paris - and that we should instead visit some beaches the whole thing unraveled faster than Market Garden.

We are both staying in St Aubin sur Mer (Juno Beach).

I'm there from 31st May and Pegasus will join me on the 3rd June. We both return on 7th June.

Nice to see some of you are going there. I might go there for a day or two as I work during the week, it will be Saturday and Sunday: too bad if Imiss some of it, but it's sure better than not going at all

GPRegt, Skipper, you should try your best to be there for the 6th June. I was there for the anniversary a few years back, and it was a fantastic experience to see so many veterans of the campaign and also the countless re-enactors with their assorted wartime vehicles.

Ferry places are selling fast, and that is why we have booked so early.

We, along with our families, are staying at the Yelloh! Village campsite, in mobile homes or 'cottages' as the site likes to call them. We have stayed here on some of our previous trips and it's an ideal base from which to explore Normandy. There are various activities on site for the kids and it is also close to Caen and Bayeux-which means our wives are kept busy with the many shops there...

I'll be there with my Tour group of DLI and Airborne veterans 4th -9th June, we usually go to Ranville but this year will be at Bayeux on the 6th, we are staying in Hermanville at Le Canada so if anyone is in the area they are welcome to meet up for a few beers with me and our vets, from 7 Para, 8 Para,12 Para and 6 and 9 DLI.

Pegasus what unit were you with ? I was with 7 Para RHA !!

regards

Paul

Paul, that sounds like an offer too good to refuse. I especially like the "few beers with vets" part...
