Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Been outta pocket lately, but wanted to congratulate Mr. Evans on his 11,000 mark! By now he's probably at the 11,500 mark....

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Well with kind regards to you Zippo, and many thanks. No-not 500 yet but almost 50 :-D
If I can ever get set up at home-now that I have a computer; it probably would be 500.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
I have a question ragarding our veterans. Since they got the tag "WWII veteran" next to their name, their medals seems to have vanished. What happened? For instance A.E. Campbell has over 70 posts and no decorations.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
It's a tough call Skipper67, I'd like to recognize them for their contributions, but I didn't think it would be appropriate to award WWII servicemen with the medals of their enemies. Maybe I shouldn't be concerned, but it just didn't feel right.
I've got Peppy working on getting their their actual wartime medals, might be more appropriate.

Sounds very reasonable to me, Otto.

Speaking of Peppy, he has a website now. Check it out and tell him to get cracking on it: Front64.com | Graphics for the WWII Network
He got a lovely front page in my opinion.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Ok Otto got the message, it's just that they'd deserve medals more than any of us. I will check out the Peppynet a.s.a.p.

Is that him ??? he looks really smooth...I'd always imagined someone a little rougher around the edges - a sort of Walter-Brennan-in-Rio-Bravo-type image.....

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Otto, I think that is a good idea too-to see the vets with their actual awards. Good show!
And Peppy, that's a cool site. What all do you plan with it? an inquiring also wants to know? ;-))

I agree Skipper67, they have earned it. I'm working on some huge things these days, so we get to it asap.

He really does clean up well doesn't he Martin? He comes off a little better than his Rogues Gallery photo anyways.

Carl, it's apparently going to be a huge WWII and military graphic repository. Smilies, sig images, avatars, emoticons all dedicated to serve ww2f.com. It will be a sight better than our current Web Gallery.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
and what, I ask, is one awarded (most likely posthumously) for jumping onto a live thread tossed by a troll ?

Don't sacrifice yourself like that over a troll, let me handle them. I got a BIG GUN, bigger than any troll's weapon, trust me.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Sharp eyed Carl Evans has informed me that the Soviet medal in the member awards is not actually the Hero of the Soviet Union as Peppy had initially informed us. I suspect it is actually the Order of Glory, but I'm not certain. I'll give some rep to the Rogue who can correctly identify the medal. I'm referring to the last medal on the right of the second (middle) row.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
Could it be the "Award of Glory" of 1st degree,2nd degree or 3rd degree? Kinda small but it looks like the 1st degree.

Re: Them fancy medals adorning our posts
I think it is a mix of medals. Ribbon from one, star from another.
