Why you don't put ranks under the members name Otto

e.g : 1-10 post = recruit

10-20 post = private

until the highest fieldmarshall then the user/members will be able to put custom title...

Yep, the ranks are not that many, but it seems we have not reached a good new system either.

ANyway, I thought maybe when you have done some 5-10,000 postings maybe we could make the "sir" type of system and you can give yourself a title and name?? Admiral, Marshall, Bohemian corporal etc. whatever you like...

I think I kinda like Kenraali or Bohemian Obergefrieter whichever is the higher ranking of the two? :-D

Seriously though, I have seen a ranks system work on two other sites and people like them. Of course I have to admit, but the rank system on one site is to do with Law Enforcement and Govt. and would have little meaning here. The other is military of course. ;-))

We are indeed working on it. It will take a bit of effort, but the plan is to have different rank streams that a Rogue can select. A member can select a nation, then a branch of service and then be awarded ranks in that particular arm of service. More info as it comes in.

The thing holding us up is that I've been spending my time installing/configuring the member upload capability that I'm going to open soon. Below is a sample with a couple images already installed. You Rogues don't have any permission yet, you'll get the idea; image upload with links to your profile, and the ability to comment. Photo goodness that photo-phile members like Martin Bull will make great use of. More info as it comes in.

As part of the OKF, i can tell you that we've been pretty busy. Otto, over the last month, has had the whole wedding thing. Things will kick into over gear over the course of the next month with lots a new little things happening on the site.

Relatively soon will be new Forum Rules and WHAT IF... Rules (in their draft stages right now). So you Rogues just wait, things will start to happen 'round here soon

Concerning ranks, some of us have already talked about it and Peppy is making a list with Otto. The idea is to get ranks that are widely understood and not related to one nationality only, a bit like the way we get our medals. There is already another thread somewhere on this forum where we can put our suggestions.

This is a pair of Dutch resistance crystal radios, built into a small metal can, and a matchbox. The image is from a postcard bought at a Dutch Resistance Museum in Amsterdam. The matchbox is marked in Swedish, but Swedish matches were sold in Holland for many years..
