Medal for me?
I was just curious as to why I received the Purple Heart. Is this given out after so many posts or?
Yours,
Bill

Exactly. One is given out everytime for a certain amount of posts. The little blue medals on the right are given out according to how many Good Reputation points that you recieve from your fellow posters.

Re: Medal for me?
On the left: the purple heart = 20 postings, but then it gets harder to get themedals , the second one = 100, but later you will need up to 1000 postings for each new one
on the right: these are your reputation medals. The etter your reputation, the more medals .

I'm a NEWBIE and was wondering about this. I have a Purple Heart and a little blue medal and didn't know why I got these though I supposed one of these had to do with postings.
I understand the posting issue though it seems to me that you would have to live on the computer to garnish some of the ungodly number of postings I've seen attributed to some members. However, I don't understand the issue of REPUTATION or how one goes about building one.
How about a simple explanation? I'm sure that the other newbies would also like to know. Thanks.

Re: Medal for me?
You will accumulate medals under your username as you get more and more posts:
1 medal: 20 posts
2 medals: 100 posts
3 medals: 250 posts
4 medals: 500 posts
5 posts: 1000 posts
6 medals: 1200 posts
7 medals: 2000 posts
8 and up: every 1000
The little blue medal is a reputation medal. You will get one blue medal every 100 points until you get to 500 points at which point you will recieve a green medal. You then earn a green medal every 200 points
You get reputation points by getting saluted or getting rep. To get/give rep you click on the icon second from the right on the top of each post. To get/give a salute you click the button in the lower right hand corner of each post that says S! People will give you reputation if they enjoy your post or if it is informative, etc.

Re: Medal for me?
Nice clear explanation, Jon. Maybe the mods can sticky this thread to help people understand the system.
Thanks.

Re: Medal for me?
MODERATOR: I'm with lrusso216, how about STICKING this thread at the start of the NEW MEMBERS forum. I think that it would be helpful indeed.
