Normandy Landing Beaches

The Normandy Landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy, also known as Operation Neptune and Operation Overlord, during World War II. The landings commenced on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 (D-Day). The D-Day Landing beaches Forum is where you can post in relation to the beaches Utah, Omaha, Gold, Sword and Juno.

  1. Gold Beach

    Gold Beach was in the centre of the five designated targets for the Normandy landings. The primary directive was to take control of the small port of Arromanches landing on this beach was the task of the 50th Northumbrian Infantry Division.     he landings at Juno Beach were assigned to the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division were to prove militarily successful but costly in terms of men lost. All relative information regarding Juno Beach can be added here.

    Omaha Beach was the most intensely fought after beach on D-Day, June 6th 1944 with the 1st Infantry Division (Big red one) and the 29th Infantry Division (Blue and gray) first to hit the beach. All relative information regarding Omaha Beach can be added here.

    Sword Beach was the furthest east of the five beaches targeted for D-Day and was the responsability of the 3rd British Infantry Division. All relative information regarding Sword Beach can be added here.

    The 4th Infantry Division were allocated Utah Beach which was the furthest west of the five beaches designated for the D-Day landings in June 1944. All relative information and posts regarding Utah Beach can be added here.
