Also, Gerd von Renstedt came back from his retirement to conquest Poland, France and the Ukraine. Then he commanded all the forces in the West, fought in Normandy and then, at 70, he commanded the battle of the Bulge and the deffense of Germany!!! 
But Carl has like 40 years to go...
