For those in the Midwestern United States and also Canada near Detroit, Michigan.

Looks like I'll get to see a Lancaster after all Martin.

Go and see it, Greg ! I'd love to see CWH's 'Lanc' too...

That's a truly great lineup of warbirds ( I see they've even got the Casa...er, Heinkel... )

I'm honestly thinking of going there. Its only about a five hour drive and if some members on the boards want to go as well we can all meet there.

I will be sure to take at least two or three cameras with me as it seems there are going to be alot of pictures to be taken

I'm seriously considering going to this. Anyone else have the avation itch in them right now? Chicago isn't too far from Detroit, and it would be worth the trip.

Greg, are you going?

Maybe we'll sneak that Lancaster out and fly it out to your place Martin. Do you have a wide enough road to land it?

A little bump for this airshow, coming up in about a week. Unfortunately my plans have changed of late and I won't be able to attend anymore. Are any Forums members going to attend?

Greg :

If you have a good chance to attend do not forget to bring some notable books for the vets to sign. Don't wory they will be hanging around the bombers and fighters there, telling the grandkids and whomever close enough to listen about their WW 2 tales. Ask some intellignet questions about the bomber flight characteristics or maybe what was worse...flak or fighters and you should get the ball rolling in your court. And for sure bring a camera so we can view your great time through these forums......doesn;t hurt to get a private addy or two from these guys if they wish to be written.

Erich,

I'm going to take John McManus's "Deadly Sky" that covers all American airman in WWII. I am going to the symposium with my dad to see Chuck Yeager, Gunther Rall, and Bud Anderson so I will be sure to have them sign the book as well. (Okay so Gunther wasn't an American Airmen in WWII I'll still have him sign the book)

I know when I was talking to a B-17 pilot a couple weeks ago I did ask him whether he saw any jets and he did but said they didn't have much of an effect on them. I think he was talking about the Komet because he would talk how they'd fire their engines and climb to a high altitude and then dive down looking for a loose formation of bombers to hit or stragglers.

Greg :

Be prepared to bring some funds along. Bud and Chuck will both charge monies for sure for sig's in a book, your pack or your arm......unless this is covered in the symposium costs ? In any case you will have a tremendous time of it as you will here I am hopeful some great stories of air combat over the Reich.

much success, and I am quite envious

bring back pics bud

I wish you all the lucky ones who can go a lot of luck!

And I think I can do a little for watching some WWII warbirds in here after all... I think they have a P-47 of 201st Squadron of the Mexican Air Force somewhere in an Air Force base near the city. And I forgot! In the Technological Museum they have a civilian-converted B-25 and a C-47 (vulgarly called DC-3).

I think I'll visit them before the work starts...
