Hey, that's just the case for Liechenstein. Because if the kind would be gone, the country would lose all its money.
But here in Flandres there are also a lot of people who want to see the king leave from
Belgium.

Carl: Belgium STILL has a king...
How don't you know that it was the king who signed his nation armistice in May 1940?
Well, as long as the absolute monarch is a good one, who cares?

That's the problem. The king has still too much power.
I do, and a lot of Flemish people.
I would rather have a president.

After WW2 there was a referendum in which there was asked if the King should remain and the result was that he stayed.
Leopold III didn't remain on the throne, but his son - Boudewijn - became king.

I agree with you, Erwin. If the king is a Louis XIV or a Charles V then it doesn't matter, but if he's a stupid b**** as Louis XVI or some Habsburg witha gigantic chin then THERE'S a problem...

Yes, than you have a problem.
A king who has a lot of money and who is building monesteries on places where a lot of green should be, while a lot of other monesteries are empty.
Be happy with your presiedent. Maybe he costs a lot, but the people have the power to choose the man himself.
We on the other hand, don't have that power. If you are born as a prins/prinsses, then you are automaticaly the next king/queen.

Thank you Erwin for the info about your King.
Fried--no I didnt know they still had a King, if I had known--I wouldnt have posted to Erwin that I had not known that there was still a King in his Country I had not known he had signes anything. Also--you have to remember--most of my ww2 attention is focused on the Eastern Front.

Alright Karl.
But remember that it was very important that the king was still in the country, because a large part of the government was in exile in Great-Brittain.
The king lost all his credibility because he married in the war and he even met Hitler.

Don't you worry Carl. I don't know much about it either, except for a little about the Belgian kings.

Really? I figured that you guys over there would have to had known more being that most of the worlds royalty is in Europe.
Maybe I shouldnt be so surprised though--there are many things here that im not interested enough in to try learning more about--like Herpotology--for instance.

Theres royalty all over the far east Carl...You even have em up north...My mum has been telling me for years she is the queen of Canada.
I take her grapes on a Sunday and change the water in the flower vases as the nurses dont get the time.
Belgium and the King Erwin? Lots of arguments on the kings role in surrender in 1940, Brits and French calling him traitor etc, Chrurchill knew better though, accepted the positon he was in, in private conversations.

What is Herpotology? A sort of animal, Carl?
The French wouldn't accept that the Belgian surrendered on 28 May in 1940. But a few weeks later they did the same.

Hi Urgh--I wouldnt mind being a member of the Royal Family in England about now--love that Buckingham Palace.
Hi Erwin--Herpotology(if I spelled it correctly) is the study of snakes.
