Hello fellows, I have returned from training and am now ready to catch up on everything I have missed. I wont be here to long (I am going to play in the big sandbox ) so everyone should just start filling me in. I hope everyone is doing well.

Good to have you back, Steve. Like Erwin says, there is a lot of catching up to do. Some of us have returned (- Friedrich!) Some of us will not be seen here anymore... People come, people go...Best thing to do is to go through the different topics. I am sure you'll also find that Otto made some changes.

Hope to hear from you before you ship out to the 'big sandbox'...(When will that be?)

Welcome back, my friend! I have returned too! While you were away, training yourself for the war I was living a bohemian life behind the scenary...

We have many things to catch up. So, let's work, Steve!

Glad to have you back Steve. Before you go to that giant sandbox--please let us or someone here--the mailing address for you and your unit. You will make the 2nd from thses forums so far to be in that giant beach. I think some of us wouldnt mind sending you some comforts once there.

Also--its been bugging me--did that Enemy At The Gates Book ever arrive? Im hoping it did as I cant find another copy of it to send if it didnt.

Anyway--glad to hear from you.

Welcome Back Steve, and best of luck in the sand box. Please let me know of a mailing address that I can send letters to you while you are over there. Although I don't know you very well, I think it'd be neat if I wrote to you. I'm in the Army up here in Canada, but because I haven't completed my SQ's yet, I wont be going over anytime soon.

Please let me know,
DUCE

Steve, hope you dont mind, but Im sure you could benefit from some of the ex mob guys on here who could help you with acclimitising before you go off to the sand pit...

Its very sandy...so number 1....buy some sand paper...rub soles of feet for 2 hours a day to get em toughed up..Seriously its ture....Im sure Greg and Bish etc will back me up on that..

To help with water problems...under uniform make sure when sun is at its highest you are wearing water retaining stuff next to skin....Try cutting up and sellotaping some of those clear plastic food bags togehter...that will do it..

Fill canteen up with Bitter lemon juice...Snakes yer thirst...Honest..

If in desert and you are doing all the above, and it dont seem to be effective...You can always humour yourself with the thought that at least youve given the old sweats in your company or detatchment a damn good laugh...

And on no account never ever ever....walk up to an arab and tell him his camel is as beautiful as his sister....I dont care if your sergeant says its a compliment...it aint...

Greg youve been there? Back me up...lets help Steve out here...

Sorry Steve...take care..and although it might sound stupid...have fun...theres always time for fun...

interesting post urgh,

Although I have heard of the lemon juice, I can honestly say that I've never heard of rubbing your feet with Sandpaper...very interesting.

Duce.....If Canada suddenly finds itself doing what it does so well, and ends up stuck in the middle over there....then dont...dont rub yer feet with sandpaper...only works for GI's...

With apologies to Gi's everywhere..

Unhappy

Do I sense a bit of sarcasm in your last post Urgh?

Technically, if I wanted to, I could join the Italian Army (I have dual citizenship), but I'd have to move back over there, and I don't see that happening anytime soon, so it's not gonna happen.

Well I'm glad I don't have to join the Belgian army anymore. A friend of mine is in the Belgian army - tanks - and he wants to quit.

I'd actually love to go back to Germany and join a military academy to be an officer in the Bundesheer, but I think I have a career as singer going pretty well and a happy civilian life in Mexico...

Another option would be the French Army. No need of the Légion Étrangère. As son of a French woman I have the right to join the Armée de Terre. It would be nice to graduate as lieutenant from Saint-Cyr Academie Militair.

Are you really considering this?

The army istn't exactely my kind of job. Alwas obeying what others say and never discuss, although you may have a better solution for a problem.

I couldn't work in such a system!

Hi Greg A, I'm with the 317th MP Bn. Duce; As for my address I will be letting Carl know what it is when I get there, everyone can get it from him. If things keep going the way they are I might not even get there.

Not really, Erwin. As I said, I enjoy my civilian life a lot. And unless I'd become a widower and stay alone in this life I would join them at once! But I hope that doesn't happen.
