of the war at sea.....

German Uboats sank 2892 Merchant vessels equalling a total of some 14.4 million tons.

Uboats sank 175 Allied Warships & damaged 264 Merchants equalling some 1.9 million tons.

Of 1,150 commissioned boats -- 779 were sunk, 2 captured and the rest scuttled or surrendered.

Of the 39,000 men serving in the Uboats, 28,000 were killed in action, 5,000 became POWs and this equals to 85% casualties.

Out of 842 Uboats to see combat -- 781 were lost equelling 93% of operational Uboat forces lost.

Source: Uboat Commander Herbert A. Werner, who served on 5 uboats uring the war and was Co of two of them.

It's amazing that any of these men survived.

Friedrich will become famous soon enough
Good ones, Carl. Though these should be in the "Battle for the Atlantic" threads, like the cyphers I got from the Atlantic Battle.

Tese cyphers show that the KM was much better than the WSS...

Hi "F"--TA.

Fried--I posted it here as I was in a hurry so I couldn't take the time to have it in the proper place--unfortunately

Hi TA--That vet and I still haven't been able to see each other for the interview---yet. He is currently out of state attending some kind of a national get together. He said we can do the interview when we can set a time after he gets back.

This is all good and well because I have some U 181 pics to trade with him for some of his.

Ill let you know as soon as I have more progress on this. He's going to call me when he gets back from that get together.
