Gents,

I'd like to present my first piece of aviation art. It is a print by Bob Morris and the 1st of a series of 4 about the January 11, 1944 air battle. As some of you know the focus of my attention for quite some time.

Well...Yes....but isn't it a pretty red cross???

Nothing when you right click on it and click on Show Picture? maybe when you refresh the page?

The pic does show with me and I checked the url and it is correct...

I have fiddled around a bit. It is showing here. Anybody else see it?

wise guys // just read the story under the painting. yes I suppose you didn't know that the lowlands were in a great upheaval on 11 Janaury 1944.

In reality this was a terrible mess as Stevin can confess as some 60 Allied a/c were claimed as lost by a multitiude of single and twin engine Luftw. a/c. cool painting but the wipped creme at the bottom of the painting confuses me. sorry one of my eyes is taped shut at the moment due to getting run off the road. the other driver won that battle, and I didn't. where my Mk 108 when you need it !!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Erich. Hope the car is still ok...and the eye will heal!?

The colors don't really do it justice. All a bit more viberant than the original.

Bob is working on #2 at the moment ( ) which will show Martin Drewes's 110 in detail and a rather large number of twin engined LWs. Bob and I have been going back and forth on this and I really look forward to the next one. It will be a series of 4 I am led to believe. Also think he is planning on a 410 job.

Jan.11 was carnage over Europe. Hope I will get to write some stuff down one of these days....

Oh, Erich....Seems the Freiburg trip might be on for next month!!!! I f we can get a good deal -which we are working on- we might be of for two or three days at the archives!!!

stevin i am going to write/type this in small case as i am taking some silly medicine. actaully i was riding my road bike on a 40 miler and a car hemmed me in and trashed me into an old irrigation ditich non-usuable whcih was fortunate for me, full of blk berries and some poison ok. had it been filled with water i may have drowned...........these type of accidnets are pretty normal in my area with all the hills, but gorgeous country nonetheless.

would love to see the next sessions of painting. a me 410 attck with 3 of them coming in from behind would be startling ! this was usally the case, as they would line up fire rockets and then close in individually with the heavy forward cannon of 4-6 on the normal case ..

sorry for the speelling errors..........arg

friend yes have been there as my leg and one arm was torn open, one eye is patched. Ah if I could have been quick enough to catch that 4x4 license number. this is just like the other incident several years when I was hit dead on downtown by an old gal in a Rambler, I was so messed up and saw stars, planets you name it that I couldn;t even think strait for about an hr. everyone yelling to get her numbers as she drove off, a hit and run. my helmet was cracked and my front forks bent, seat ripped along the left side as I slid more than 30 ffet on pavement and hit a power pole between the legs.............yee haw.

you of course can never get enough of freiburg, at leat a week minimum just to glean through things. hopefull the staff will be of some hlep to you. have heard some horror stories but this is what i have heard of pro and the nara here in the states. stevin be prepared to have as much of your interests by text in order. am looking for a typical german njg unit history......III./NJG 5, damn that hurt..........will let ya know further when u send me a private

Erich, I have always said exercise is bad for a person's health. If you were a couch potato like me you would be in good condition right now on the couch watching the History Channel.

Nice picture Stevin but I can't make out what the emblem on the right is. Something standing on a bomb but what ?
I notice that most of the B-17's are old F models without the chin turrent.

TA, the one on the right is the badge of the 401st Bomb Squadron.

Noticed the B17 in the No3 position seems to have a chin turret. Interesting point. Having concentrated on 3rd BW I can say that most, if not all B17s in those BGs did have the F version. And yes, I agree, couch-potatoism has gotten me where I am today..... ... ... ... well, anyway, I can talk about what happened on Days Of Our Lives at the office...

Mahross, I still have to frame it. Christa's portrait can wait...

Thanks for the larger picture Stevin. They must be people from an old comic book or comic strip but I don't know for sure.

I notice that Erich has not been on the forums lately. Exercise may even be fatal to your health!!
