personally I would love too forget but also New Yorkers. But with a new upright memorial going in that will never happen and of course the news media mentioning it almost everyday in some situation...........in any case I suppose it is a reminder of what can happen to a quite well off country that trys to free the world as we know it. Really sad but there will be fools in this world that want to make a statement however small or large to make their feelings known. Yeah America we are really the bad guys...........bbbbbbbbbbbbbbblllllllllllllllltttt tttttttttttttttt............................... !

back to CvM's question though. My wife and I woke up to the news at 6am on the 11 September that a jet a/c had plowed into one of the towers. we immediately got dressed and watched the smoke and flame and I had my doubts that this was an "accident". The when the other jet from a different angle headed for the tower I knew what was going to happen as that fool banked and plowed in..........I remained home for the day while my wife tearfully went off to work // America got a rude awakening tha awful morn.

I have always thought it odd that no video footage has ever been shown of the airliner that crashed into the Pentagon. There has to be thousands of survallance cameras in Washington DC and as far as I know no video was shown on TV.

Also almost nothing has been said about the hunt for the people who sent anthrax through the mail or if it is even related to the middle east. I remember at the time that was as big a scare as the aircraft crashing. Now they act like it never happened for some reason.

A quick Internet search located several websites with the type of surveillance camera photos you mentioned TA152:

BBC News: In pictures: Pentagon crash, March 8, 2002

Boston Globe: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into Pentagon

AirDisaster.com: Accident Photo - American Airlines 77

Another quick search located news and police websites with information on police efforts to find the source of the anthrax letters or on related anthrax scares or precautions:

WGRZ.com: Doctor Loses Job Amid Anthrax Probe, August 18, 2004

WTOPnews.com: Post Office to Get Anthrax-Sniffing Machines, August 18, 2004

Fox News: Anthrax Scare at U.S. Embassy in Malaysia, August 16, 2004

San Diego Union-Tribune: U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka closed after receiving mail with suspicious powder, August 10, 2004

U.S. Postal Inspection Service: Special Reward - Reward raised to $2.5 million for information related to anthrax mailings.

May we never forget, indeed.

But we must not forget many other things, and many other innocent people being killed by Tomahawk missiles…

I actually was not aware of the enormity of the tagedy and the personal sorrow of the people involved until the 1st anniversary. Then I understand how horrible and how unforgivable it was. I am not proud of how I reacted three years ago.

But I watched "Fahrenheit 9/11" this Friday and the best scene in the film by far is just a black screen with loud Dolby Digital sounds of two planes hitting the tallest building in New York. It's awful. I cried.

At that time I worked somewhere that had a TV set in a public area. A girl burst into my office saying 'A plane's crashed into the World Trade Centre in New York !'

My first thought was - some guy in a Cessna....

Ran downstairs just in time to see the second aircraft hit. Never forget the incredible spectacle of both buildings collapsing.

The realisation that this day would change the world.

Worst of all to me - the office-workers jumping from the windows. That was truly horrible.

I was heading home from school at the time and didn't hear about it until a few hours afterwards, and the news was a dribble of information. First I had the same thought as Martin, some idiot in a light plane had managed to crash into one of the towers. Then I heard it wasn't a light plane, but a passenger jet. Then not one, but two. Then that one tower had fallen, then both. Then the news the Pentagon had been hit, and that a fourth plane had gone down in Pennsylvania. The news reached me as a piece-by-piece catalogue of catastrophe until I got home and was able to watch the news, when the trickle became a torrent.

One of the few times I've thought 'This means war' and it's actually happened.

it is interesting that we thought right after the east coast had been hit in several areas that to my north the Bonneville dam and electrical works would be hit as well as the nuclear facility west of Portland..........

Some time before 9/11 a guy in a Cessna did crash his plane into the Whitehouse. It killed him but did nothing at all to the Whitehouse. It was too long ago to remember the year but Clinton was in office. Perhaps he was the one who gave the airline hijackers the idea to go airborne. I heard about it at school, the same 'some idiot in a cessna' response and lot of confusing reports, got the bus home with my girlfriend and slowly the story unfolded. We sat on the edge of my bed and watched the news for several hours.

It is going to be my generations moon landing, everyone will always remember 'where they were when they heard the towers were hit'.

One of the things that struck me was school the next day, everyone was shaken. We got very little done, every teacher I had that day had been affected some how (one had been there two days previously, the other had a friend who was missing and so on) and we students were just lost, there was a strong sense of watching history happen.

i saw a video recently that had an explenation for this and showed some camera footage, scary stuff, no jet, a rocket, i'll post link here ASAP if i can find it.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/1861977.stm also on this site it shows the plane feet from the ground, this would suggest a boeing passenger jet going 600mph 2 ft off the ground... like i said NEED to find that video

Stefan :

your thoughts, and I do not want to get off topic but as you mentioned drew me back to 1964, living in Modesto, California. I was in the 5th grade and had walked to my elementary school about 1-1 1/2 miles one way. The teacher was not in the classroom at the time but a student teacher for about 20 minutes, he was called over the intercom to come back to the principals office and our regular teacher came back in the room. We had at the time paintings in frames 8x10 incehs or so and of course the last president's was there. Our teacher slowly grabbed a pen from his desk and walked over to the glass framed pic and marked it with that date...........within 5 minutes the principal called over the intercom that our president had been shot in Texas and that all students were released to go home. All I can remember in the past 40 years was running home thinking what are they talking about. I dumped my school bags as soon as I got in the house and ran towards the sound of the TV set blarring loudly in our familie room with my mother sitting in a chair crying, looking towards the TV they were running footage of the president, his wife, and security going through the paradial paces and then the president getting hit twice, in the back/front of the head and the car racing away madly........and later the news from the hospital that he had died from a gunshot wound. The cover-up had already started ! John F. Kennedy

It is not a wonder what will stick in your mind for 40 years like glue and you can easily see how some WW 2 vets remember certain events so seered in their minds like it happened just yesterday.........

the scenes and sounds of 11 September 2001 will not go away quickly if ever. Gentlemen we live in a strange and hard world

Erich, thankyou for that memory, it reminds me of a conversation with my Great grandmother (105 and still the life of the party) a short while ago, she described her uncle Alf coming home from the Boer War. He was a cavalryman and as she remembered him walking into the room in his uniform, medals and brass polished, sword gleaming, you could sense that she could see it, and that was 100 years ago or more!

Just unfortunate that in 40 years time I will be remembering a tragedy.

Karem, thats the most least convincing piece of Bullshit i've come across about 9/11.

First off, with that flash video Problems even a High School Physics Student and Aviation buff noticed:

Why did the Aircraft disappear over the Ohio Border?

Because the transponder was turned off. The Network for Air Traffic COntrol relies on radar which does not go off of the raw, metal skin signature that the aircraft puts on radar, it relies on a transponder within the cockpit to transmit, if thats shut off, then the plane disappears.

"Why did we not find bits of aircraft at the pentagon"

Because the damn thing was gone! It was moving at over 500 Knots! ANNND it was carrying a hell of a lot of aviation fuel, which is somewhat flammable AND HAS A TENDANCY TO BURN (go figure)

At that speed, the aluminum metal used to construct the 757 gets to the point when its no longer really a metal, but a plasma. At the speed it impacted the cement and steel structure of the Pentagon combined with the explosion of aviation fuel, the damn thing incinerated, it was GONE, BOOM, if you understand that.

Listen, my father worked at the pentagon for years, and on the morning of the attacks was the headquarters for all Air Force Figthers on the eastern Seabord. It WAS a 757 that pegged the pentagon.

I was walking past a TV with a few friends, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a scene out of the movie "Armageddon."
Or at least that's what I thought for a second, then I said, "wait, the smoke was going the other way in the movie", and I rushed back to the screen. That's when I saw that this is for real, and that a plane crashed into the WTC. Me and a whole bunch of other people stood watching as another plane crashed into the other tower. How many people had just been killed? I bet I know who did it, but I want to be sure.

I was so happy to see bombs and missiles raining down on Afghanistan, and later Iraq, both killing thousands of soldiers who could do serious harm, and at the same time, helping free the populace of both countries from the murderers who had for so long harmed them.

I am proud that Poland did the right thing and helped in both countries.
