TSUNAMI IN SOUTHEAST ASIA

Thousands Dead

The magnitude of the tidal wave catastrophe in Southeast Asia is growing by the minute, with most recent estimates putting the death count at nearly 80,000 ( this moment´s figures ).

Really shocked by this phenomenon. Still tens of thousands of people or more missing. I truly hope many can still be found and saved.

Seems the moment has gone, they're now saying it could be as many as 100,000 in the coming days. Also the big worry, on top of everything else, is disease.
In the UK Jack Straw gave 15mil to aid, but why doe's that somehow seem like a kick in the teeth to those people? I mean, I'm a tax payer and think 1bil would be nearer the mark!

The total figure will now never be known. One of the worst disasters ever known to man - appearing out of sunshine and clear blue skies.

I guess this has given us all something to think about this New Year.

But it's been heartening to see the generous response from private citizens in the UK - the Government has had to struggle to keep up.....

After a week when it happened...193 Finnish citizens still missing. Seems like they will never be found.

Now they must take care the diseases won´t kill more than the Tsunami.

I wish strength to all those who have lost a relative or a friend due to this catastrophe and especially to those who were there to face the Tsunami!

Around 3,000 Swedes missing as well, as Thailand is one of the most popular destinations for us. Many, many children have been lost, as several of the hardest hit destinations (Khao Lak for example, pretty much eradicated) featured big family-friendly hotel facilities/villages. As a comparison, the latest event with this number of dead for us was the battle of Poltava in 1709.

Of course these losses are nothing compared with those suffered by the poor people who live in the area. Some small comfort in the massive donations being handed in for the area, easily unmatched since the Winter War campaigns for Finland.

Question

Heard this a few times; the animals knew something was coming.
The unusally low number of dead animals found. Anything in this??
