can anybody help me out with why these ships look different? is it a matter of sea worthyness

At a guess coastal ships are shorter and have a shallower draught, because they ply relatively shallow and sheltered waters.
Ocean-going ships would need to be longer and broader in the beam to counter heavier swells, and have a deeper draught for more stability?

thanks gordon, that seems like a good guess...i was looking at model ships, and didnt know much about the "coastal" and the "ocean" versions...
