U-turn on Glasgow pub glass ban
Plans to ban glass in all of Glasgow's pubs by January 2007 to reduce violent attacks have been abandoned by the city's licensing board.
Instead only premises with the highest incidence of glass attacks will serve drinks in plastic or toughened glass.
This will remove about 95% of pubs from the direct requirements of the policy.
Councillor Gordon Macdiarmid, convener of the licensing board, said the decision to amend the policy had been a result of its "listening" role.
He said: "Publicans have claimed to be operating their premises responsibly and that the policy, as originally approved, had imposed an unnecessary burden on their methods of operation.
"They now have the opportunity to prove that they can operate responsibly in the absence of a higher degree of regulation."
The ban is already in force in city centre clubs and pubs with late night entertainment licences.

Can this truly be a little bit of common sense in Scotland.
I wonder?

Maybe, Richard. But it's balanced out by the latest madness from the Politbureau; they want to ban smoking in ALL cars, company AND Private. And not only do they want to raise the drinking age to 21, but they plan to make it illegal for ANYONE to buy more than FOUR drinks in any one pub in the same night. Not only that, but you won't be able to work in a pub-either behind the bar, or collecting glasses-unless you go on an officially approved course and have a diploma to prove it.
You know all those conversations we have about home brew? Expect it to take off big style in the immediate future.
On a side note, since the smoking ban came in I've never seen ANY of the local pubs (Stirling is a small-sized city) more than half-full on a Saturday night. So where are all the non-entities who carped on about finally being able to go to the pub?

Ha!! I'll change the results at the batttle of Re in 1177 and rule the world ( Norway, Scotland, half of Ireland, Isle of Man and A portion of Northumbria) And Willy of Normandy is of my kin so the rest of the UK is in the family.
As a side note. Clan Sinclair is asking DNA from people living here on Sunnmøre county (in Norway) that trace their ancestery back to Ragnvald Jarl (earl of Møre) He was the forefather of Walking Rolf (Rollo in French) the ancestor of Wilhelm of Normandy. The reason for this is to compare the DNA with the people of the Clan Sinclair to prove that they are from Ragnvald Jarl's kin.
If this match they will be kin folk with the Clan MacLeod and the Clan Gunn both from Olav the Black King of man, also from the Ragnvald jarl kin. MY KIN.
