The UK is paying tribute to the victims of the 7 July London attacks, one year after suicide bombers killed 52 people and injured nearly 800.

While tribute is appropriate I have to say that the 2 minute silence seems to have caused some irritation amongst the people I know. As a gesture on November the 11th it's a truly magnificent and moving tribute to the vast armies of dead from all wars, of all nations, few things offend me more than people ignoring it. But we seem to be 'cheapening' it by having 'silences' in tribute to any other tragedy.
I am truly sorry if my personal view offends anybody but I'm becoming more irritated by this mawkishness which I suspect has it's roots in the immense over-reaction to Princess Diana's death in some quarters.

Cheers,
Adam.

And September 11th is just another day here it seems.

What does the death of Diana have to do with it?

what no WW 2 theme ? very sad I must say but London will be hit again as well as New York or some large metro area of the US of A.

7-7-44 in central Germany the first Sturmangriff agasint the US 8th and 15th AF heavy bomber formations; the US lost 55 bombers confirmed and it is one of the very few times German claims to actual US bomber losses coincide. A page is devoted on our Sturm web site and it continues ........
