@ chrome: I did not meant carrying a weapon equals being an asshole.
And I don't consider AT ALL you chrome as an asshole. I appreciate some warbirds discussions we had here. Of course this subject is a little hot, but I guess you knew when you wrote the 1st post.
It was a way to show how dumb is the reasoning : "too many idiots / criminals and in general people I got no particular reason to trust - carry a weapon around, so I'm scared and I have to carry a weapon myself."
Too many weapons creates fear and the need weapon, so it makes more weapons around which equals even more fear etc...
anyway chrome, weapons save lives means NOTHING :
Compare France & USA injury casualties / violent deaths for 2000.
This includes criminal/legal (killed by police or maybe militia lol) deaths, accidents, unintentional homicides, suicides, car crash etc etc.
France 22.000 = 0.03 % of population USA 148.000 = 0.05 % of population, so far so good
Now let's consider only crime related homicides :
France : 1.000 homicides by all way, not only firearms (includes poisoning, strangling, eviscerating with swiss army knife, clubbing to death etc etc) : it's 4.5 % of total violent casualties
USA : 16.000 criminal homicides by all way : its 11 % of total violent casualties ! Twice as much ! On these 16.000 casualties, 11.000 are firearms related !!! Almost 70 % of criminal homicides are caused by firearms !
Want more ?
USA year 2000
violent casualaties (all reasons including accidents, suicides, crime etc) : 148.000
on these 148k, casulaties related to fire arms (including suicides, accidents crimes etc) equals 28.000 (19% of above)
on these 28k firearms casualties : 16.000 suicides, 11.000 criminal homicides, less than 300 legal homicides (police shooting criminals), less than 800 firearms accidents.
This proves : the share of criminal homicides into violent deaths is twice as big in USA than in France, almost 70 % of these USA criminal homicides being caused by firearms.
So I ask you chrome : how can such numbers be reached ? Do people in USA have a special affinity with gun crime, or is it just that there are far too many weapons around ?
Really, my point is not that I don't want you chrome or whoever to carry a gun, my point is that I don't want you chrome or whoever to get shot.
@ skunk : of course you should not be denied to protect yourself against bears, but many armed people don't live under the threat of brears.

Cities where regular folk carry weapons have less crime.
& if you look at the recent rise in carjacking, it make perfect sense to carry a weapon or mace on your person, or in your car. That equates to exactly what you said. Too many a-holes with weapons = I should have one.

Can't people understand that a dumb gun control policy (or the lack of any) is directly responsible of the widespread of guns in criminal hands ?
40% of firearms casualties are criminal homicides !!!
less guns = less crime = more security
I wish you dodge bullets, John Wayne
sorry I edited my post above after you replied

This is one of the dumbest thought pathways on the subject. You're in your house,2 am, bad guy shows up. You call police & by the time they arrive, your robbed shot & feel somehow morally superior for not having a gun. The absolute height of stupidity. Morally superior & dead.

YOU are shot Sir, because your burglar carried the gun YOU put in his hands by supporting a STUPID gun control policy. Morally inferior and dead

Right, like the cat who goes in my house bought his gun a K-mart, c'mon wake up. Strict gun policy only makes it hard for the law abiding citizen to get one. "he" put his gun in his hand & it had nothing to do with lax gun policy.

skunk works, I'm not saying firearms should be banned, it's this idiotic idea that EVERYONE needs to own a firearm. It's just plain stupid simply because not everyone is safe with them. As Chrome pointed out you need to 'use your noodle' and the simple fact is that most people aren't bright enough.

Na, not bad taste enough but thanks for the thought! By the way right now I'm taking down a marvellous king crab, caught in the Scottish Seas. The innards (muscle, viscera, eggs) all taken out and mixec with mayonnaise, spread on toast. Yummy!

I know what you mean Stefan.
It's that all one way or all the other that has "Dorked" up politics & legislation since government began.
The world needs a dimmer switch for the overhead light, instead of just ON or OFF !
When I was in LA alot over 700 "Gang Related" deaths were in one year. This does not belong in the nation/world/gun owners averages, it belongs to LA !
There are no stats on how many of them were minors, drunk, drugged out, shot themselves, or 50 I-Qd.
There are no numbers on how many were illegal, or had weapons that were smuggled in (with the 13 million).
As the old saying goes..."Figures don't lie, but liars can figure !"
There are more gang members than police officers in this country. I've seen groups of over 50 behind apartments (gathered in the parking lot).
This country/perhaps the world needs to take a lesson from Texas. You can have any gun (almost) you want, but if you use it in a gun-crime, you will do the "Maximum" time, no probation, no underage, no excuse will do ! That is, if you survive the arrest. They will put you down if you are evading/fighting while holding.
There is also the death penalty for gun murder. I know it seems cruel, but so is murder.

If you manage to avert your eyes from the lady's superb attributes, I'd like to ask why does the boat need a spare tyre for! That's by her left elbow. Yes, elbow.

It's a base for a skeet thrower, see the angled launcher? See the box of clay pidgeons her Keester is setting on? Look carefully now.
I hope they're using steel shot to avoid lead pollution.
Za..
