how to keep your allies (well not really)
whilst trawling through youtube my son came across this video posted from a news bulleting following the uproar last week here in the uk over the death of matty hull in a friendly fire incident the gulf war and the subsequent witholding of the cockpit video by the us government and the british mod. perhaps the friend of the pilot interviewed here needs a few lessons in diplomacy and well just needs to engage the brain before he opens his mouth.

A prime example of someone who does not know when to SHUT-UP !
I believe he meant the "Press"...not England.

He responded with a massive apology, still think it's tragic that idiots like that get heard. It's because of this kind of moron voicing his biggoted views that people get a negative view of the American people, tragic really.

Dude, if you think a Vietnam vet from Boise Idaho's views are a good indication of American sentiment, then you don't understand the country. Boise's about as in touch as Fiji.
Two, do you realize what Vietnam did to some people?
Three, looks like a friggin actor to me.

In the Navy we have a single word that sums this guy up: Airedale. This word implies to anyone but an Airedale that the person being spoken of is a pilot who thinks his $hi% doesn't stink and acts like the biggest most obnoxous jerk wherever he goes. The reality is he is just what everyone but himself thinks he is.

1 i dont think this guy sums up the states at all, i am married to an american lady, my father in lay is an ex marine and when i was over there visiting family (chicago IL and Racine WI) when people heard my accent they literally shook my hand for my country standing by them and one old vet even apologised to me for the states being late entering ww2 lol, so dude nope i do not think this guy sums up the states, he is a minority but alas that is what gets the silent majority tarred with the same brush.

Re: how to keep your allies (well not really)
Now why is the US unpopular in Europe again?
I've met a few of these men in my time at the Winter warfare school. One of the problems is the system. The soldiers are told he is second to none, and the rest of the world cannot tell the dangerous end of a gun.

Re: how to keep your allies (well not really)
There are a fair few jokes going around about the US army and the dangerous nature of our alliance, it's an odd situation and no mistake.
That said, as I've said before, the unfortunate thing is that idiots like this bloke gets loads of press and that influences the way the rest of the world views the US. It's a great shame.
