Re: Linlithgow plans statue to Star Trek's Scotty
He cropped up recently elsewhere;
James Doohan, better known as Scotty, landed at Juno beach as a captain with the Canadian Artillery (Most internet 'reference' says he was with the US army, seems unlikely as Juno was a very Canadian affair..and he was Canadian). .
He was shot 6 times by a friendly Bren gunner, wounded in the legs and chest, and lost a finger (There's also some talk of the old 'cigarette case saving his life' story?). He later went on to be a pilot observer and gained the soubriquet "The craziest pilot in the Canadian air forces".
Been looking for a period picture of him but as I'm sure you can imagine it's all a bit clouded by that tight red shirt.
Funny old world.
Cheers,
Adam.

Re: Linlithgow plans statue to Star Trek's Scotty
Glad to see that SCotty is getting something to remember him by.
Also, filming starts in 2008 for another installment of Star Trek. Only this time, it is going to shed some light on the earlier lives of Kirk and Spock and their meetint at Starfleet Academy.
I HOPE hollywoodland does not screw this one up.

Re: Linlithgow plans statue to Star Trek's Scotty
Whether or not anyone knows about this or not, here's a brief update on this matter.
Scotty's ashes were blasted into space but, from what I was told (as I had not heard) by a Trekkie Fan who was using the computer next to me, said that the rocket that was carrying his ashes had gone off course or something and that Scotty's ashes had been lost. Apparently sometime between then and now, his remains were relocated. Scotty will again be launched into space.

Sorry, no idea.
There's actually an exhibition on Star Trek in Linlithgow right now thats in conjunction with Scotty, I just haven't had the chance to get there and take snaps yet.

I am not aware that Scotty even did a War Movie? but, I do know he made a Western - I don't recall the name. In this Western, he was some sort of Army Scout or Pioneer or Fur Trader or something along those lines. Needless to say, the movie wasn't great but, it wasn't a stinker either.

Re: Linlithgow plans statue to Star Trek's Scotty
I could have sworn seeing him in a war movie B&W but maybe I'm wrong.

No telling and I could be wrong about him. I've never thought to check the list of credits he has been credited with. If time permits, I might take a peek-see. ;-))
