Record Breaking Day
Today, 15 June, was a record breaking day for the forum. The most users ever in the forum at one time, 46 at 12:05am today.
Woo-hoo for Otto and the rest of OKF!

Re: Record Breaking Day
Thanks for the words of support Slipdigit! I have that to be completely honest, these are not records. These stats are only from when we upgraded the WWII Forums software, which is just the last few months, the new software couldn't import the visitors data.
So while this is the busiest we have been is years, whith the 40+ simultaneous visitors and about 150 posts a day or so, it is not the record for the total # of visitiors nor daily posts. Believe it or not busiest time in this Forums history was back in 2003, when we regularly had 75 visitors at one time and 250 posts coming in per day. Todays stats are certainly good news and a step back to where we were and hopwfully beyond!
Cheers to all you Rogues! and the OKF too!

Re: Record Breaking Day
Does anyone have any ideas as to ways we could expand the forum? (in number of posters)
personally I think advertising on a lot of these wargame sites is the way to go

Re: Record Breaking Day
This might seem counter-intuitive, but I've always had a policy of not advertising this site directly. I prefer to have members learn about it via referrals and "word of mouth" so to speak. I certainly would like to see my site listed on the link section of any website belonging to a member here, but I don't think I'll ever pay for advertisements. Referrals tends to get less new members, but better quality members in general. I feel that advertising will just get me the guy who "clicked here to win an XBox!!!" and I don't want those types here.
Not to worry though, Peppy and I have some developments in the works that I'm sure will make things more busy here, including the ww2n.com site coming back. I'll be sure to keep you Rogues informed...

Re: Record Breaking Day
I found this site after I had joined another forum. I had bookmarked it but later was on another PC and couldn't remember the URL I googled something like "World War II forum" and found this one. I like both for different reasons. This one is mostly North Americans, especially US.
The other is mostly UK with a good many Aussies and Kiwis. I am very weak in knowledge about the British Army and they provide a good chance for me to learn, although it is harder for me to interact with the them because of the time difference. Unfortunately, my comments and questions often get lost because of the shift.

Ahhhh, you must be talking about Lenny Warren's site? His site is a nice one and troublemakers don't rear up there very often and are quickly gone.

Re: Record Breaking Day
No worries Slipdigit, I like links to other websites, the more knowledge the better for all. I've actually chatted with Lee Wisener, the admin over there on a couple occassions as well.
Good to hear the stories of how you guys got here, it seem this site seems to rank well in the search engines anyway.
Where is Lenny Warren's site Carl? There is going to be restructuring here soon, and the more sites too look at the better.
