Default What does everyone listen to?

Being 18, and having the typical rock n' roll mindset, I like a lot of music, and I'm hoping someone likes something I listen to...

Genre-wise: Heavy metal, doom metal, thrash metal, punk, oi and of course, classic rock, everything from Molly Hatchet, ZZ Top to Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy.

I can't really pick favorite bands, but I love Foghat, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Anthrax, The Misfits, Suicidal Tendencies and I could go on and on...

But Foghat is pretty much my standing fave, I own all of their records and I've seen them live (minus Lonesome Dave, RIP) and I've got two autographed albums I own second-hand, because I wasn't around when they were signed by the original members.

Anyone else?

Hi Alloy, I'm a Led Zep man too, though I like quite a lot of rock from the era. In terms of more modern stuff I'm afraid I'm rather more into Indie and Ska, Reel Big Fish, Spunge, Fratellies etc. Also getting more and moreinto classical music, since I pinched ('borrowed') my brothers CD collection and ripped the lot I have a lot of Bethoven, Elgar and Mozart to work my way through.

I like old hard rock, but most definately will pass on the doom\death\thrash metal as well as punk. I have most anything you want to listen to from the 70s (when I was in HS), either in vinyl, CD or MP3. I have most everything that Floyd, Zep, Skynyrd, Boston, etc released. Favs from that era are, obviously, Boston, Zep and Skynyrd.

I learned to enjoy classical music as I passed into adulthood and have good bit of it. I also enjoy Big Bands, Easy listening (Martin, Sinatra, et al).

I like a great deal, contemporary Christian artists, Third Day, Jeremy Camp, dc Talk and Mercy Me.

I like 80s indie bands, such as early REM, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, Blasters, Lone Justice, BoDeans and Guadalcanal Diary.

You know, it would be easier to say what I will not listen to. Beside the aforementioned metal genres, I will also pass on having to endure listening to rap. Talking with music, oh boy!

Anything else, rock, jazz, motown, country, bluegrass, gospel, you name and I'm all over it.

Default Re: What does everyone listen to?

Literally everything but country and Rap.

Classic Rock = Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple,
Goth = Sisters of Mercy, Mission UK
Heavy metal = Metallica, Ozzy Ozbourne
80's retro = Depeche Mode, REM, Talking Heads, Talk Talk, Communards
Classical = Bach, Mozart, anything Boroque
Christian = Jars of Clay, Toby Mack

And so on. Whatever mood I'm in determines what I listen to.

I am just a mess!!! I would say I listen to pretty much anything........

Love classic Rock, Floyd, Beatles, The Who, Rollin Stones, Eagles etc.

I also love Jazz and my favorites would be Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis.

Classical is also on my list....... With Mozart and Chaykovsky just to name a few

As for my wild side........HIP HOP and not the one thats on the radio right now but more old school MOS DEF and TALIB KWELI.... Perfect examples of artists who actually had something to say!

I must admit that I am an AUDIOPHILE. I will listen to anything , except Rap. I define that paticular genre as beats with self-depreciating lyrics. I do like Hip Hop.
I can't list every thing I listen to as it would too long, too boring, and most would probably just scroll thru it anyway.
I will list what I am currently listening to...

Budgie..greatest hits
Uriah Heep..The Wizard
Mozart..Requiem/sym.35,40,and 41
White Stripes..Iggy Thump
Moxy..Moxy
Wagner...Der Ring des Nibelungen
The Clash..London Calling
Tito Puente...Greatest Hits
Hank Williams Sr...Greatest Hits
Johnny Cash..Live at San Quentin
Toots and the Maytals...Greatest Hits
Triumph...In the Beginning
Calexico..Garden Ruin
Rainbow
The Kinks..Preservation Society
Willie Nelson..Teatro
Marty Robbins..The late Great
Tesla....Reel to Reel
The Stax records 50th Anniversary Celebration
Jimi Hendrix...Axis Bold as Love
Bach....anything I can grab
Floggin Molly,..miles from home
The Beatles...White Album
I could go on.....

AC/DC is still No.1 for me.

The best experience was sitting down at the SAS hotel in Stockholm and having Brian Johnson buy me a pint. He was impressed that somebody would drive 1700km to go to a concert.
