Citizen Kane Oscar under hammer
The only Oscar won for Orson Welles' iconic 1941 film Citizen Kane is to be auctioned and is estimated to fetch $800,000 (£393,000) to $1.2m (0.5m).
BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Citizen Kane Oscar under hammer
Sotheby's auction house in New York said it will auction off the statuette on 11 December.
Many critics regard Citizen Kane, about a power-hungry newspaper baron, as one of the best films ever made.
Leila Dunbar, senior vice president at Sotheby's, said the prestige of the film added to the statuette's value.
In 1999, the best picture Oscar for Gone With the Wind fetched more than $1.5m and Vivien Leigh's best actress statuette for the same movie made more than $550,000.

This movie is a masterpiece.
Deep plot, deep characters, and so much innovative audace in the way it is shot and put together.
I worship this movie. This is the best movie ever in my opinion (until Transformers II is released lol).

Re: Citizen Kane Oscar under hammer
I've seen this movie before but have to differ on opinion of how good it was. Though I agree that Orson Wells most definately deserved an Oscar for his acting in this movie, I still feel that this movie is comparable with and not as good as one made by James Stewart called: Mr Smith Goes To Washington. The comparison im trying to make is about the corruption of both the Newspaper Business as well as Politics, and also how in order for some people to arrive at their elevated positions, that they screw the common person on their way up.
Two more you can compare "Kane" with and that are better than Kane is, are: Tycoon w/ John Wayne and Meet John Doe w/ Gary Cooper.

Re: Citizen Kane Oscar under hammer
I had always heard that Cit. Kane was the best movie, so I watched it... and I have to say that I have seen better.
You should try Mr. Lucky with Carry Grant, much better.

I haven't heard of Mr. Lucky, i'll gladly keep an eye out for it if ever played?
The Red Rabbi? sounds a bit interesting to say the least. ;-))
