Video for Carl
I hope you can watch it, Carl. It is Duke Wayne and Old Red Eyes talking while sitting on horses, apparently on Dean's show. John Wayne is saying what he wants to teach his then 8 month old daughter as she grows up. Pay attention to what he says at the end, it is pertinent to this forum.
The rest of y'all might enjoy it also.

Ignore the teen heart-throb on the left, I'm just talking about the two men in the picture.

For those of you who can't do Flash:
YouTube - Dean Martin & John Wayne
I think that's the same one. Nice vid. There are some other good ones on the dreaded 'tube.

Re: Video for Carl
Hi Jeff, thanks for this. I can see this as you posted it but I can't ever access utube. I have to get some ear-phones to be able to listen to it in full. However, what I did see was cool-and thanks for it ;-)) BTW, last night was spent watching The Searchers and then, The Comancheros. ;-D

Thit is Ricky Nelson-in the role of "Colorado" in: Rio Bravo. Thankfully, Duke only made one picture with him in it. Also, the late 1950's were his pre-drug addiction days. Had he been doing drugs at that time, Duke would have never let Nelson on the set and would have had someone else in that role. ;-))

Re: Video for Carl
Thanks, nice sentiments by John Wayne. Rio Bravo has always been one of my favourite John Wayne westerns.

Hi Mac, Scott, both of those movies are good and get better everytime I watch them. One thing extra about Back To Bataan is that Duke is shown with facial hair-which is a very scarce thing to see. The only other movie I can think of off-hand that shows Duke needing a shave is: The Searchers-which has been voted as the all-time best Western ever made and Duke as the best on-screen Cowboy-ever. :-D
Mac, Rio Bravo has some of the best music in filmdom. And having Dean Martin also singing-really was nice.
Chance: "Took you two!!"
Dude: "Didn't allow for the wind."
PS, forgot, he also sports a mustache in Rio Grande.

Re: Video for Carl
Hey Carl,
I noticed that, and I thought he looked very strange! No wonder, if he doesn't show up in films like that much! It almost looked fake to me!

Re: Video for Carl
Scott, Heh heh, I once briefly thought the same thing. It's also unusual to see him smoke cigarrettes and or cigars-though he was known for smoking three packs of Marlboro Reds daily.

Re: Video for Carl
Stefan, Miguel, great lines. ;-D One of my all-time favorite quotes came from the movie: "El Dorado."
Robert Mitchum: "What the hell are you doing here?"
John Wayne: "I'm looking at a tin star, with a drunk pinned on it."

In Rio Bravo, I believe Angie Dickinson rolls a cigarette for him and he uses his teeth either opening or tying up a pouch of tobacco. Working on memory here! Yes, I really liked the music too - I always hope they will show the movie to the end of the credits so I'll hear him sing the whole theme song.

Hi Michelle, heh heh, talented was he not? ;-D
On the music for Rio Bravo (among hundreds of other movies) there is a site or two out there that specializes in selling movie music on CD. I don't recall the name of these sites but, if I find it i'll be more than happy to let you know about it. Also, I know Rio Bravo's music is out on CD-as well as the music from many of John Waynes movies. I remembered it being talked about-about 6 or more monght ago @ this site: JWMB - The Original John Wayne Message Board! Im a member there and also at the Official John Wayne site-which is: John Wayne Both are great sites-full of great people and most people there go out of their way to help someone out.
If you don't get a chance to go there for a look see-i'll try to search for the link to a great site that selles these movie music CD's.
Take care and best regards--Carl.
