Awesome Airmen
Airmen stand firm amid tempest. You can't tell me Servicemen regardless of branch don't deserve our respect.

Re: Awesome Airmen
This was recently sent to me,
In 2003 as Hurricane Isabelle was approaching Washington , DC , our US Senate/House took 2 days off with anticipation of the storm.
On the ABC evening news, it was reported that because of the dangers from the hurricane, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.
They respectfully declined the offer, 'No way, Sir!' Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment, it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.
Thanks PzJgr! Great thread!

Re: Awesome Airmen
Yup, regardless of the tasks, these men and women are dedicated and deserve much more than what they receive.
On a different note, I just found out that my son is being assigned to the same unit doing the same thing for the same people as I did when I was in the USAF. He is very excited but his Mom is not after hearing all of my experiences. I hope he understands what that means. I will forward this clip to him and maybe he will get something out of it.

USAF Mobile Comm. There were only 2 of these units assigned directly to Electronic Security Command (ESC) which is now the Air Force Intelligence Agency. I was a computer/communications programmer. My son is a Ground Radio Specialist. I was assigned to the 6948ESS which in now the 93 Intelligence Squadron performing duties for NSA. Unit is located at what is called the "Texas Cryptology Center" and performs ELINT operations.

Yup. In spite of our problems, this country provides the best opportunities to better one's self and worth defending. Now if we could only straighten out the politicians (spit) but that is another story......Ronald Reagan, come back!
