I think that warranted a "warning" ticket at best!

I saw that on the local news a day or so go Gordon. It just proves councils are turning in to little Hitlers and I'm sick of it. My own one is just the same when it comes to rubbish and recycling with there silly rules that get my back up.

The other week the dustmen would not take away my rubbish as it was not in a official council rubbish bag.

So I contacted my council who gave me there red tape clap trap, so I told them I will re-hold £5 of my council tax for they failed in giving me a bin bag and not having my rubbish taken away that week.

Within in three days I rec'd a nasty letter saying if I withhold my £5 they will take legal action against me. I wrote back and said I'm not taking that kind of abuse from them and will take legal action against them.

After a period of time I rec'd some half hearted apology from them along with a roll of bin bags. I then wrote back and said I will give them the £5 but next time this happens I will go all the way.

I will not stand for any council BS and I will bite back.

What in heaven's name is this? What makes the bag so special?

Keep in mind that often the only reason this kind of rubbish is happening is because some poor bugger is told he has to do things in a certain way and if he doesn't he could loose his job. For one thing, bin men I know have been told (in my area at least) that they aren't to collect non-council (i.e. non purple, the idea being that the council gives you so many bags a week, you can pay for more but if it isn't in a special bag it won't be collected and thus people will cut down on their waste, stupid no?) bags and if they do they face penalties. This will of course come down from some jobsworth sitting in an office who has very little to do with the 'coal-face' at which their policy ideas get implimented.

Same round here. Because neighbouring councils have started to charge for dumping at landfill sites, people have been using our local one, which is still free. Result is that I went down with a car load of rubbish the other week and got the third degree about where I came from; the jobsworth asked if I had a permit and I replied "yes- my council tax payment book." The upshot was when I phoned to complain they sent a $%^£ing card out "to avoid future doubt". They've bloody got you all ways..........

Wadda wadda wadda (the sound a cartoon character makes when shaking its head from side to side in disbelief) that's the way I feel in reading this. Oh and Richard, better watch out and not use Hitlers name too loosely, we don't need no yung-uns getting the wrong ideas. ;-)) Just kidding about the Hitler part.
