Mine is the DUI of the 30th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop (Mech), 30th Infantry Division-Old Hickory. I have a personal interest in the unit.
The Pennland; the ship my dad sailed from the Clyde to Suez on as part of convoy WS5b in January 1941.
An M5A1 (M-3 Light) tank. My brother was a crew member with the 67th Armored Regiment, 2nd Armored from N.Africa, to Berlin in these.
Reading through this thread, @Za Rodinu came to mind, as did urqh, I haven't heard from either in a long while.
I had a screenshot of Oberst Hessler that I'd taken on my TV, since I enjoyed that look of Hessler looking up from his car at the recon plane. That didn't translate on this site, it got all pixelated, so I found this shot on Google and use it now.
Za posts periodically on the talk. Urqh is a Facebooker now. He got all bent out of shape after Trump won the White House.
Again, mine is the shoulder patch of my father's unit, the 473rd Infantry Regiment. Otto, I follow and sometimes communicate with urqh (Thomas Murphy) on Facebook. I miss his commentary here, though. The same with ZaRodino, although I've not seen or heard from him.
A lot of people got that way about Trump. I hate politics, good thing Facebook does have any of that political stuff on it. Good to hear about Za at WW2Talk, we can call him a visitor by proxy. As long as they are both healthy and active that's a good thing.
I've changed mine at times but my current avatar is a war poster publicizing service organizations on the home front in Pennsylvania. One of my interests is home front history and I am originally from the Keystone State.
