I got a hold of a Signal Corps garrison cap, and it belonged to this guy: Robert Arnold Tarwater | Tulsa World
And I would like to know everything about his unit(The 897th Signal Corps).
The only thing I know is that it was stationed in New Guinea at some time during the war.

Hi there! I know this was posted almost 6 years ago but I only stumbled upon it now. So believe it or not, but the man you have the cap of was my grandfathers best friend during the war and even after. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away recently and Tarwater passed away many years ago and I don't really know anything about the 897th. However, if you are still interested this many years later I'm sure my grandmother knows some interesting things from stories my grandfather would tell.
