Hello Everyone! I have randomly chosen 6 of my story concepts and am leaving up to you guys to decide which one I should start to work on (Because I really don't care). As many of you posted in my previous thread, Books I plan on Writing, that some of these might not be novel worthy, well I'm just going to try and see how it goes.........So here are the 6 concepts, and please don't hesitate to ask questions or give suggestions!

Sons of Lorraine- The story is set in the summer of 1940 in France. A French battalion from Lorraine tries to buy time for other French and British soldiers to be evacuated at Dunkirk by holding off German assaults.

The Island of Death- The Story is set in April 1941 on the island of Crete. German Paratrooper Johann Wessel tells of his harrowing and deadly experience during the battle of Crete.

Desert Rat- The Story is set in October of 1942 in North Africa. Lieutenant Myles Jackson of the RAF is shot down in his P-40 behind enemy lines in the deserts of North Africa. He must survive the intense heat of the desert and the ever present Afrika Korps as he tries to make it back to Allied lines.

Gulag 9- The Story initially starts after the surrender of the German 6th Army in Stalingrad February 1942, and then takes place in a Gulag/ labor camp in Siberia from 1942 to 1991. Lukas Bauer, a German war photographer for the 6th Army in Stalingrad is captured among SS troops. From Stalingrad, he is transferred to Gulag 9, a Soviet prison and labor camp. Lukas retells his experience in a diary later recovered by his son.

Shocked & Awed- The Story is set from 1944-1945 on the USS New Jersey. Robert Snow, an 18 year old Navy private who helps operate the ships massive 16" guns, goes along with the USS New Jersey as it staves off Kamikaze attacks, and shells Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

Finnish Fighter- The story is set in the winter of 1939 in the Mannerheim line in Finland. Armo Korhonen, a 19 year old Finnish Soldier, fights off the Soviet onslaught during the Winter War to save his home and country.

One of my profs, Gunther Rothenburg, rode Stuarts in NA and Italy. I've tried to find out more about it since he died.

That's amazing, it would be pretty terrifying to come up against a Tiger 1 or even a Pz. IV in such a small and lightly armored tank.

He brought a softball bat to class one day.

"This handle is about the size of our main gun's shell."

Then he pointed to the "business end".

"And this is what they were firing at us."

I was impressed. The ROTC kids were kinda pale.

So, please, if you get around to North Africa some day, give a wave to the Jewish Brigade of the British Army in his honor if you please.

BTW, after the war he became an instructor at Sandhurst. John Keegan was one of his grad students.

I will absolutely find a way to incorporate them in the story, I will use every opportunity I can to honor a veteran!

You can leave out the part where he left Purdue and moved to Australia to live with a former student, of course. ;)

He was unblushing about it. I hope I'm as ... active as he was when I'm in my 70s.
