Why I'm shocked Rich. He's a genuine veteran of the great airborne assault on Schweinburg/Regensfurt, and the 1945 drop on Berlin. Show some respect.

A Canadian uses the name George Patton. How come all you Canadians have American hero's? Don't you guys have any of your own hero's?

Seems to me you should use the name Queen Elizabeth.

This is fun. What do you guys do once you get the new people banned, go back to talking with your small homo internet clique friends and gaining weight and rubbing Propecia on your heads, hoping it works, and petting your little lap dog and slacking off and talking about other better men who have real girlfriends?

You're a follower, not a fighter. You take it. You put up with it. I don't.

If anyone wants to get back to a real debate about the mission, I'm willing. At least until I get banned.

If you want to continue to throw insults back and forth I can do that too.

As far as the mission goes, I would encourage you too read further into the operations of U.S paratroopers in both France and Holland in all seriousness. I think you understand a part of the picture, with some more reading and research I think you might realize how far fetched this idea is (Not trying to insult).

It's hard to debate something that did not happen. It's not far fetched. The paratroopers landed at Normandy, they landed in Market Garden, they landed around Berlin.

The problem is your expectation. You think they have to all come home, they don't. Did the airmen who were shot down in the 77 bombers and then 60 bombers come home? Not until after the war was over.

Mission success is destroying the factory. It's not about getting every paratrooper home a few days later, although that might be possible by landing C-47's on a long stretch of road at night. It would take hours and they would have to load up quickly, the Dakota's would have to land, turn, load up, then take off on the same road and turn as soon as they are airborne so the next Dakota could come down and land. Sixteen troops per Dakota, it would take 31 Dakota's if you had losses of 100 men and left the dead behind.

It's hard to take a queen serious. Is Weird Al the best you got?

Doesn't Canada have it's own Jeep knockoff? I mean come on, get your own.

No, I would never do that. Tanks are for real men, not wanna be's.

I'm not sure what you mean by home? I mean it in the sense that they should be relieved by reinforcements a greater bigger force of regular infantry. The Roads in Germany are too narrow for really any plane bigger than a Stearman, let alone a C-47. This is why we are somewhat preterbed, the idea of landing a C-47 on a street with street lights and buildings.....I'm sorry not happening.

    Indeed it is.

Yes it is. Far fetched is defined as unlikely and unconvincing; implausible.

Yes they did. After a flight of roughly half the distance. In June 1944, when they had established air superiority over the Luftwaffe in western Europe. With three divisions and about 30 times as many troops. At night, with considerable dispersion. With 130,000-odd reinforcements scheduled to arrive within a few miles of them a few hours later.

Yes they did. After a flight of roughly half the distance. With three divisions again...this time with reinforcements not so conveniently arrayed, which didn't work out so well. OTOH, they did land during the day, which meant that instead of being badly dispersed most were able to form up and move out to their objectives fairly quickly. Of course the fate of Frost's battalion in Arnhem is probably a good analog to this scheme...except he had about twice the strength posited for this far fetched idea and was supported by two other battalions. And oddly enough, it was German Ersatztruppen who caused the initial problems.

No they did not. At least not in the world of reality.
