Man Puts a WWII Era Tank in his Front Yard Exploiting a Loophole in the Community Rules If this has been posted already, I apologize. I can't stand snooty neighborhood associations, so I really liked this story.
I love the learned comments. "This is a Sherman with 76MM." It's actually an early Medium Tank M4, 75mm, probably built by ALCO. Interestingly it has the early three-piece bolted differential cover, but the later M34A1 Combination Gun Mount and Shield. It also is missing the driver and co-driver applique armor plate, but does have the sponson applique.
This is the mixmaster, questionably-advertised Sherman from the D-Day Museum that sold at auction a few years ago in France. Selling price was 347k euro. The D-Day Sale Collection Nerrant & fils | Sale n°3114 | Lot n°46 | Artcurial
Regardless of it's lineage, I'm with ULITHI. I love that he's unabashedly thumbing his nose at the self-important blowhards at the Association.
He'll be glad i don't live next door to him......i'd be pestering him every five minutes about it......i wish somebody would park one by me.Perhaps more people need to take more of an interest in history like this instead of whining about bugger all. It's because of history like this and the men who operated them that they are free to whinge in the first place.
