Seeking colors to the unit's emblems, all were Unofficial except one, I have a line drawing image of all of them and can e mail it to you , please drop me an PM with your e mail and I'll send them to you .

I have tried all the online 505th BG sites with no luck , there should be records somewhere of the designs as someone had to have drawn them during WW2 as the image I have is from that era .

I hope to hear from members, thank you very much and have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We've got some AF geniuses here, but I'm not one of them. :) I'm sure someone will be along soon who can offer some help with this.

Is this what you're looking for? Info on the 482, 483 & 484 squadrons.

This is the only squadron that apparently had an emblem.
482nd bomber squadron 505th bG: On a gold disc wide border dark red brown, an aerial bomb in drawn bow, all of the last, pomting? toward dexter base surmounted my a side view of an Indian face, proper, with head band plait loop red brown, trimmed gold, holding two white feathers tipped and trimmed red brown in the headdress.

Hello Biak , thanks for posting these pages, but no what I'm looking for is totally different emblems and most likely will never find the colors , seeing as they were all "Unofficial" they weren't included in the Squadron/Group books done by the USAF , I have the Squadron book that you posted the pages here from .

Thanks again , I'll keep looking

I would have to "snail mail" them to someone of the forum that could load them as I don't know how to do this ..............................................
    Johnny
I'll describe them here , probably won't help , but you never know ,
The 505th BG emblem, a shield w/4 aerial bombs at top , the shield is divided into quarter sections , the lower left 'quarter" has some small device unsure of what, centered in the shield is a stylized 505 that look like a small letter "bob" at an angle top left to lower right ,a scroll with motto is below shield with the words "Aut Vinci Aut Mori" .
The other "Squadrons emblems are as follows ,
this one was also "nose art" on the B-29 called "Ball O" Fire, a round disc piped with a thin outer border, inside the frontal view of an aircraft that has a large skull for center/cockpit area and four outer smaller skulls for engines /two each wing, below large skull a falling aerial bomb and in a "X" pattern behind the aircraft are "bones".

The next ones is a round disc w/thin outer border , inside a top view of a B-29 facing upward and there's multiples lines like a sunrise issusing from the bottom center.

That's the ones I'm seeking and am thinking the could have been stateside designs that weren't carried overseas into combat, or if they were with them being for sure of "Unofficial" design , like a lot of emblems from that time they've been slowly lost to both memory and time and not recorded "Officially" ......................

I hope this may help in getting something going on them , I do feel these were used although it may have been briefly , but am hoping someone can come across some old photos, notes etc about them ...........................

Dear Johnn Signor, found ur 2013 post re 505th emblem colors...

My father was origional CO (Col Robt A Ping), and Im looking at an "official" tablecloth (TC), I think from the Groups 1983 reunion in Ft Walton Beach FL

Anyway, annotating ur words in italics:

"The 505th BG emblem, a (round) shield w/4 aerial bombs at top (inconsistently shown, eg not on TC, but present above shield inside the cover of the 75+ page 1983 reunion "report"--bombs "official" color unknown). The shield is divided into quarter sections (upper left in unsaturated red, upper right variously sky blue or medium blue, lower right black with portion of the "0" of 505/bob in white, lower right quarter Marine Corp yellow (MCY)). The lower left 'quarter' has some small device, unsure of what (variously appears as a bush or stunted tree--stunted tree in MCY on TC). Centered in the shield is a (very) stylized 505 (almost undecipherable, in black, but see below) that looks like a small letter "bob" (b's variously sat on a bottom or base that extended slightly to the left and to the right--on TC no bases--and b's each had a small dash affixed to top of each b forming a tiny "T"). at an angle (eg in italics), top left to lower right. A scroll (a u-shaped ribbon on TC, in MCY) with motto is below shield with the words 'Aut Vinci Aut Mori' (in black)". (The shield and ribbon are on a battleship gray field, with a thin circular border in MCY)

    Hope that helps

You could also look at the images from when Enola Gay was display at the Smithsonian. Very photographed she was.

The Enola Gay is still on display at the NASM Dulles location, but she belonged to the 509th Composite Group.
