    My conservative smart choice would be Prison Guard stateside in the U.S, My cool option would be flying in Any air force, and or being a Tank commander in a Tiger or Tiger II.

    Only if they bring back the battleships! Not that many cannon today. As for WW2, American BBs seem to be a place that one could do useful combat service and be relatively safe. (Except at Pearl on Dec. 7th, that is.)

    They were hard, that's true. And the fast BBs were in the shit with the carriers, so life could be ... exciting.

    I always thought about being an RAF Bomb Aimer. I could pay back those rotten Nasties for London and Coventry, with tenfold interest.

    In real life I never wanted to be anything but a surface warfare officer, so that would be my choice in WWII (although SWO was not a designation back then). I served on two cruisers; the first one, USS Albany (CG-10) was a WWII era ship (CA-123) commissioned postwar and converted to a missile ship in the late 50s.
