One of the earlier events, the opening poem was written at the beginning of the 20th century, when all hope for independence seemed lost:

We won't forsake the land we came from,
We won't let our speech be buried.
We are the Polish nation, the Polish people,
From the royal line of Piast.
We won't let the enemy oppress us.

    So help us God!
    So help us God!

The German won't spit in our face,
    Nor Germanise our children,
Our host will arise in arms,
    Spirit will lead the way.
We will go when the golden horn sounds.

    So help us God!
    So help us God!

I'm very confused. Poland had barely twenty years of independence before being enslaved first by the socialists of Germany, then the Soviet Union. They didn't become independent until the Soviet Union fell.

Poland was the first democracy in Europe, a country based on allegiance to elected kings and established laws, not a race.
There were no minorities in Poland, there were classes: the Nobility, the Clergy, the Jews, the Burgers, and the Peasants. The Jews by law were above the burgers and below the nobles.
All parts of Poland actually joined the Commonwealth willingly, they weren't conquered.

But you are welcome to give us an example of that ethnic cleansing.

I wouldn't recommend any foreign news sources about Poland, they are ridiculously superficial and inaccurate.

Poland was partitioned between three powers (Russia, Germany, Austria) and delegitimized as a political entity by all major European powers (except the Ottoman Empire) at the Congress of Vienna (1814). In effect, she ceased to exist and most people thought basically for forever.

To regain independence total destruction of at least those three (major) powers was required which was believed to be impossible. This why 1918, the year when they simultaneously committed their beautiful suicides is considered a sheer miracle.
From 1918 Poland was never delegitimized and never ceased to exist, so in fact, it was 100 years of independence (or maybe existence), at least from the point of view of international law.

That's better than the British, isn't it? They prefer Germans.

I don't know about Scots but as I understand it Europe was ruled by a bunch of inbred royal dynasties - by a royal old boys' club.
And the club ruled Europe quite efficiently; wars were rare and not especially devastated, no borders, no passports, no gun laws. You could own a carronade, or ten, or even a warship and nobody had a problem with it.
Europe was actually more free then than today.

In Poland, there were no dynasties. They elected for life a politician, or a military general, or someone from the old boys' club. It wasn't really any improvement everybody thought he could have been a king or was equal to the king.

What has the island of Kauai to do with anything?

You've promised an example of the numerous Polish genocides, where is it?
Don't you have over there at Glavset access to Wikipedia?

Maybe from the time when private armies of Polish magnates conquered Moscow (two times)? What about that kind of freedom which allowed you to keep an army and conquer Moscow with it.

That had to hurt if today they have a state holiday celebrating the withdrawal of the Poles from Moscow. Too bad nobody knows about that conquest in Poland.
