Probably - at least as true as the £350m per week we'll be getting for the NHS. It must be true - I saw it on the side of a bus.

I've lost faith in the Church, for their repeated refusal to do anything about pedophile priests for the last 50 years, other than to cover up the crimes.
also have lost faith in the royal family.
they are so wealthy, they could give up half their wealth to the country that supports them. but no...
I suspect they are part of the problem now.
they dont like what Donald is doing, despite his popularity with "regular folk".
    its catching.
    the great awakening.

You do realize that you are also implying that all the UK state Pensioners who voted to leave are also paid lackeys of the State.

Although the Vatican is a country populated by free people.
East Germany was a prison ran by the Soviets and their German henchmen.

In the free world, walls and prisons' walls protect us, the people.

The newest EU invention, preventive censorship of the Internet: EU Internet Censorship Will Censor the Whole World's Internet, more: the EU call it copyright, but it is massive Internet censorship and must be stopped.

    In other words:

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.

The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth.

Their very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be ‘cured’ against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.

Well, are about the size of a small town in the US...Pop. 1,000, and they are smaller than the city I live in areawise.
"Free" is a relative term...Most do not vote for their ruler or those who appoint said ruler...This would hardly constitute "free."

They do? Prison walls keep people in...The US wall is to keep people...in?
    Yeah, Ok, Whatever...

Bet the North American Indians wished they had built a wall around the USA.

When are we starting construction on that "wall" with Canada? Lot's of places for those sneaky foreigners to sneak in...

It could be worse. The last time the Brits got mad at a united Europe, they marched all the way to the Elbe shooting people.

Australia has the greatest "Moat" one can get ...our ancestors believed in them.
"A moat is a deep, broad ditch, either dry or filled with water, that is dug and surrounds a castle, fortification, building or town, historically to provide it with a preliminary line of defence."

Would a (deep) moat be more effective than a wall?

Wasn't the design of an "ocean moat" Downunder meant to prevent escape? Or is that just myth?

They did build a number of prisons deliberately on a "spit"...with a narrow bit of land joining to the mainland...the escapees could either take their chances with the cold water and sharks...or could try to run down the narrow passage. The problem with that idea is that they stationed chained dogs every 50 feet or so apart right along the narrow passage...and fed them irregularly...only those who chose the water escape had a chance.
The few who did manage to escape soon came crawling back...the bush was not kind to them. A small handful of cases the escaped convict managed to join a local tribe of Aboriginals and were never seen or heard from again.

Reminds me of my favourite AC/DC song... Jail break.

There are free to live their lives as they wish, in contrast with East Germans who were prisoners in their own country.

The US wall is to reduce illegal immigration, as simple as that.

Maybe they should have built walls or rather a civilization instead of prancing around and killing each other.
Maybe they shouldn't have welcomed strangers.
Maybe they shouldn't have sold them their land.
Maybe they shouldn't have allied with them against their own domestic enemies.
Well, thinking about it the North American Indians weren't that different from the Democrats today.

btw The American obsession with ancient wars is quite curious.
The Russians\Chinese\Indians\Arabs don't agonize about their conquests, it happened and so what. The land is legally theirs and it's nobody business.

They are? The Catholic religion always seemed very strict to me, but then again, rules were meant to be broken.

If anyone "really" wanted to reduce illegal immigration, one would do more to give those immigrants reasons to stay in their home countries. A wall does not do that.

Unfortunately, the US has been built on immigration. Thankfully, for my ancestors, it was much easier to come here back in the late 1600's than it is now.

Sad that you do not know your history...Those wars are hardly "ancient"

Yes, there are ancient and irrelevant, for reasonable folks even the ww2 is ancient history and forgotten.
No use in dwelling in the past.

That immigration was easy hundreds of years ago doesn't mean it has to be easy today.
It, like the fact people wiped their asses with stones at that time, actually doesn't mean anything.

But if the US wants uncontrolled, free immigration - hundreds of millions of uneducated, civilizationally primitive folks in Africa will gladly fulfill the death wish.

And the Americans aren't those immigrants keepers.
If they can't rescue themselves and their failed countries, nobody can't.
The Americans have rescued a few countries lately; Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Afghanistan - at the cost of hundreds of thousands of dead people. That's quite enough.

Your right...In the past, immigrants came by the droves and made America great...Today, we have very restricted immigration, and we are where we are...Perhaps, we should forget the past so we will be doomed to repeat it.

Where BREXIT and Trumpism are so similar is in immigration, both want it to end except for a certain (small) number of the 'right people'. For the UK the movement of people from newly admitted eastern European countries was a major element in the leave vote. In the US Trump has openly said we need more Scandinavian (i.e. whiter than white) immigrants, preferably rich.

In the case of US this is most disingenuous. We could easily insure that no one was employed that did not have the proper documentation thru criminal penalties and fines, or thru oversight. The only problem is that American business's like agriculture, construction and hospitality want undocumented workers who are cheaper to employ. Nor does the average American want to pay for products or services that are sourced entirely by legal workers.

Evan Trump properties employed illegals and only divested themselves when caught. I can not speak for every county, or city, but in Houston where you can hire undocumented day labor is well known by all. I worked on a golf course for 20 plus years and for nearly each of those years occasional day labor was hired with no check made on social security numbers or green cards made. We were hardly alone in this.

Our border with Mexico is some 2000 miles long and some times takes border patrol 2 to 3 days to respond to a crossing between ports of entry now, does anyone think somebody can not climb a wall in that time?

Today the stupidity of the Trump way of thinking has reared its misshapen ugly head in two ways. Trump wants to cut the 500 million dollars (a paltry sum by US government standards) in aid to the northern triangle countries to punish them for coming here. The Trump administration is actually arguing that making things worse in these countries will somehow convince them to stay there!

He also threatens to close the southern border if the migrants are not stopped. Only we tried that last fall for 5 hours at 1 (one) port of entry. It cost us over 5 million dollars in lost commerce. 1 million dollars per hour! Closure of the entire border for a single day could cost us hundreds of millions, and as always it will be the average American who will pick up the tab.

As the doctor in the film Bridge on the River Kwai said 'madness, madness!'

The answers are as obvious as they are simple.

Make penalties for hiring undocumented workers harsh enough that people won't hire them instead of the slaps on the wrist they are now. This will ensure both American and legal aliens get a living wage for the work they do.

Hire enough border agents and provide them the with the equipment to respond within hours, not days, to incursions. Also invest in the equipment that tracks movement of people and drugs as they reach our border.

Hire enough immigration judges ans staff to streamline the process for
determining the status of both refugees and those coming here for seasonal work. If we can get it down to a couple weeks rather than months we can comply with the laws as written and maintain our honor.

Finally, continue and expand our investment in the northern triangle countries to give these people a valid reason to stay. Perhaps we also need to use our military/police to help these countries keep order there as opposed to endless wars halfway around the world.

This would be a win-win for the US. It would spread investment across a number of industries, rather than just makers of concrete and rebar. It would employ thousands of Americans, who will then infuse money in the economy that will in turn expand more jobs for Americans who support these new workers.
