Hi everyone, My name is Chris and I live in Liverpool, England. I am a teacher and I love to bring my knowledge of the War to my pupils as I feel it incredibly important - probably the defining 'moment' of modern history - forever relevant to whatever topic I am teaching and far more memorable than some of the abstract content of the curriculum I am obliged to teach. I have come here in part to exercise my mind away from work, to learn more from people who are interested in WW2 and perhaps learn from the personal or family circumstances of others. I am a battlefield historian and tour guide and have been impressed by how British teenagers are enthused/struck/provoked by the stories of the world wars. I thought the pre Gove History curriculum was surprisingly good, teaching students the basics of the historic method. How does the current curriculum work or not work?

Welcome. Teaching history through WW2 is a great idea. While it may be difficult, it is well worthwhile. WW2 seems more immediate to young people in England than it does to young people in the States. It might have something to do with its occurrence in that country. Anyway, enjoy your time here. I hope you find useful ideas.
