"Eva's Stories" Social Media and the Holocaust

Interesting article. There is a bit of pushback due to the content and its place on a social media platform. In my humble opinion, if done tastefully this is just another way to engage this generation on topics of great historical importance.

"The teenager’s Instagram posts start out breezily enough. Eva Heyman, who just got her first pair of heels for her 13th birthday, films herself eating ice cream in the park. There’s also a teenage crush.

But everything rapidly turns dark.

Eva’s Instagram account, based on a diary kept by the real Eva Heyman in 1944, will go live Wednesday afternoon for the start of Israel’s annual Holocaust Martyrs’ and Heroes’ Remembrance Day.

In 70 short episodes, a British actress playing Eva takes followers along on her Holocaust journey: a happy bourgeois prewar existence interrupted by the Nazi invasion of her hometown in what was then Hungary; her family’s forced move into the cramped chaos of the ghetto; and the packed train that ultimately transports her to Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp from which she never returns.

A creation of Mati Kochavi, an Israeli tech executive, and his daughter Maya, “Eva Stories” is an innovative, if provocative, effort to engage screen-hooked post-millennials in Holocaust education and remembrance as the last generation of survivors is dying out. The Kochavis said the project cost several million dollars to produce."

A Holocaust Story for the Social Media Generation

 

Sadly there is much negativity on social media eg "Facebook" from those who would say that the Holocaust never happened, the usual junk sources are presented as " proof" and alongside it an attempt to absolve the Third Reich of any wrongdoing.
Facebook still permit Germar Rudolf's "Castle Hill Publishing" to have a Facebook page which advertises the wide range of "scholarly works" which deny all crimes by the usual range of " revisionist" authors who are held up as being " experts".
This same company has had their range of books withdrawn by "Amazon" and predictably they now identify Amazon as being " an enemy of free speech" and accordingly play the victim card. ( "Poor us" ).

Genocide as a crime is sadly still with us and as events in our lifetimes have shown is being perpetrated to this day, certainly any project which educates people as to the factors which make it possible and the humanity which it robs all concerned of is very much welcomed.
Alongside the genocide of 1939-45 so many others in recent years which are also now remembered on Holocaust memorial day.

 

genocide has always been with us....there always were and always will be hitlers/Pol Pots/etc.......the huge difference is hitler was in charge of a very organized, efficient, disciplined country = able to kill very efficiently
....the Hutus in Rwanda murdered more faster and probably more Hutus directly participated in the killings as they did not kill as efficiently--they sometimes used medieval type weapons

 

True genocide is not a new concept within the pantheon of evil we have seen this before and after 1939-45, the Holocaust never actually became organised as a policy and directive until 1942 before which it was a knee jerk reaction to "problems" at local levels ( unwanted people, food/resources shortages) and the quickly genocidal aspect of the war in Russia - radical solutions which worked (killings) became acceptable.
The progression towards genocide as a secret policy came in May 1942, when in fact mass murder had been ongoing in the east since June 1941. Jews and communists to being shot as partisans quickly moved on ( with Hitler's knowledge and blessing) to "(Jewish) women and children to be shot as partisans". The increased employment of "T4 experts" saw "Globus" ( with Himmler's blessing and "interest") embark on gassing Jews unfit for work in the General Government area - seen as a "local solution" to a problem - the gassing and camps were based on this " success". When the slide into genocide came it was rapid.

 

Germany killed in the 1930's all the disabled people in their country. This was practicing for the future. Stalin a Jewish friend? Read ' Jewish doctor's plot'. For some reason the Jews are blamed for almost anything even today in europe.

Ian Kershaw used the term "The Pantheon of Evil" when he considered the collective ethnic groups and those deemed to be a genetic threat to "German Blood" , either by contaminating the German gene pool or by plotting to thwart German ambitions and deprive Germans of their rightful place in Europe.
The Jews were seen as the most intelligent and " real threat" - according to the NSDAP belief system they were and always had plotted against Germany and their "host countries". ( The NSDAP termed this soundbite as they regarded "The Jews" to be like lice and rats who fed of the host.
They believed the Jews to be a physical threat as well as a power base abroad who intended and had a track record of harming German interests, they controlled the world banking and money markets holding nations to ransom to do their political will, internally they controlled the arts, the legal professions, the medical and related professions and according to their propaganda always did well at the expense of Germans.
The Jews were supposed to be the authors and father of the communist political system "Jewish Communism" and as such had been responsible for bringing about the German defeat in WW1 and were responsible for all Germany's many problems in the interwar years until Hitler came along to " Awaken Germany" and to stop them.
The Jews were presented in this light, as being the enemy within which had to be rooted out and got rid of, "Jews are not welcome here". Useful scapegoats and a minority that could be focused on and blamed for reverses. "The Dirty Jew", characterised in "Der Sturmer" as the fat lazy, greedy, repulsive people interested only in taking advantage of "good Germans" be that sexually, or financially and undermining all "the good works" of the "Volk and Fuhrer".
When you look at how they were presented and how "German art" was captured by the NSDAP to show the strong, health, racially pure hard-working, simple and happy Germans all delighted to be under the protection and guidance of "God's gift to Germany" it gives a brief overview of how and why the NSDAP needed the Jews to be "Jews" as they required them to be portrayed.

 

I have Allways wondered how Hitler, Himmler were considered aryan people. What they looked forward to. Kph

 

It is not just the jews. It is the Aryan people with making genetics. Personally I think jews were always considered trash and even today right wing blame the Jews of the problems when the government makes the decisions still like France.
