Had a couple of Impalas myself when I was a road warrior and needed the huge trunk. Loved the ride on the highways and county two lanes.

Mom later on had a '75 Chevy Monza with a four speed..boy it was quick even through that smog crap...Buick Apollos, Pontiac Firebirds, and Ford Torinos..blast from the past with ugly bumpers and unleaded gas.

Naw, we are the same age-finished high school together at the same school.

She was and is an astounding beautiful woman with whom I am still in regular contact with. She and my wife are good friends, thought they didn't know each other at the time, as I had not yet met my bride.

My mom wanted a small car, so we got her a 1966 Malibu. The engine was wonky so we pulled it and put a 348 CID in it. She drove it twice and couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground. Traded it for 1966 Impala station wagon. That tank was famous around town.

My mom didn't get her license to drive until in her 50's. She drove very little as she would only make right hand turns and that limited the destinations available.

There was nothing amusing about me when I was 18--except, of course, my hair and clothes. The hair's nearly all gone now. As for the clothes, they went into storage and stayed there for many years. When I finally went back there to pick them up with a buddy of mine in the late 90s, we just about died laughing when we pulled the stuff out of the boxes. Plaids, cords, flares...Oh my God, how did we live with ourselves dressing like that?

I tried to get into my dress blues a while back. A flashing light came on "One at a time, please."
