    1. 3.85 per year plus last 2 years = what???--sorry, the year 2020 isn't over yet
    2. no matter what---the numbers/links/etc clearly show WS murders are minuscule --especially compared to other groups and totals

    39 dead in 2018 alone.
That's over 50% of your how many decades total...In one year.

Non wonder you did not want to redo your sums.

Kbear. Since you seem to want to dismiss me as a flake and liar I'll pass on having any further conversation as it would serve no purpose. Google Redoubt. Might find people agreeable to your persuasion. We're in for a long war.

Don't plan on telling them anything.

So then, which page on their own site do we trust?
The left hand does not seem to know what the right is doing. If they cannot get their act together on something as simple as addition and subtraction, what else are they incorrect with?

Well, if you look on your link, there is this big warning
    The Technical Notes page
Provisional Death Counts for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19):
Has several mentions that the data posted there is lagging 1-2 weeks behind other sources.

Of course the first warning is not read, and no one ever reads the Technical Notes.

EDIT: Using the Wayback Machine, you can view past Provisional death count pages.

The COVID Provisional death count on April 29th was 33,513.
Provisional Death Counts for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

It is not as if on May 1st, suddenly 30,000 deaths were "mysteriously" subtracted.

Oh stop it, you'll do yourself an injury trying to spin reality into leftist talking points. Every democrat in the country, probably including you, went INSANE when he closed down China travel. RACIST, RACIST, RACIST, they cried. Pelosi went to Chinatown and encouraged everyone to crowd together there. DeBlasio did a similar stunt in New York to illustrate how racist it was to block infected Wuhan people from pouring into the country. I'm delighted that a democrat was not sitting in the White House when this started, because "feelings" would have dictated policy, rather than science.

Now, it's just the opposite. He should have done it sooner... Really?

No more so than the injuries you have done spinning Trump talking points.

    Actually, I am registered Independent.

No, he did not close down travel with China...He restricted it...Big difference.

No, I was not screaming racist...Because he did not close down travel with China. Also, while he is an Idiot, I don't believe he is a racist idiot. Although, he does play up to them to get their voting block - the idiots and the racists.

The Dems were also idiots for playing up to their voting blocks. But, what do you expect, they are all politicians concerned about who gets the most votes.

Unfortunately, science did not dictate Trumps policies any more than feelings. Why do you think his two Docs kept contradicting him? Science contradicting Trump. Not to mention that "snake oil" he was pushing for a few days as some kind of miracle cure...Nothing but quackery instead of science.

What I read from your posts is that you think it's ok for me to die for the herd. Because I'm a liberal democrat?

It's not OK for you to die for the herd...It's ok for you to die for the economy.

Hitler used the same logic for Aktion T4...Kill of those who are useless & take resources from other productive members.

    Very Alt-Right may I say.

In WW II we averaged just under 300 killed in battle per day, granted some days were much worse or better. For the last week we have averaged 1,500 to 1,700 per day and recent reports of FEMA/CDC projections (as yet not countered by the White House) that 3,000 per day by June 2020.

And the CDC KIA numbers are slanted to look like we are winning. Seems like old times.

No, that would be going way too far. The CDC is giving the people the information they have. Giving the people a false sense of security is not what they are about. And the information coming out of the CDC does not come close to "we are winning"

Further, since the virus is new & not well understood, the prediction models (all not just the CDC) have a good bit of error factored in.

What was that one (Health Metrics in Washington?)from April 17th that predicted 60,000 dead by August...and we've already reached that.

Too many unknowns and variables to accurately predict that far in advance.

Here in the CDC site at first glance at number of deaths it looks like the war is over.

Provisional Death Counts for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19):

    Don't miss this line
NOTE: Number of deaths reported in this table are the total number of deaths received and coded as of the date of analysis and do not represent all deaths that occurred in that period.

    Why the intel is useless

total for covid and covid+pneumonia is 55,000.
38,500 covid deaths vs 5900 influenza deaths hardly seems comparable. the problem with the CDC stats, besides the time lag, is how they are counting death diagnoses--the influenza number seems very low. there is no category for influenza + pneumonia, but there is one for covid, or pneumonia or influenza. Some of the missing influenza deaths are in there.
as far as hospitalization hard to make much out of that, since there is a concerted effort to keep people out of the hospital unless absolutely necessary. Hospitalizations could increase if remdesivir and other intravenous agents are used routinely early in the course for people who are not currently being admitted--the daily IV dose could be given at home, but there probably aren't enough visiting nurses to do it.
then there are the excess deaths in the CDC link--66,000, compared to expected. the expected would include flu. And the excess is lowered by the reduced trauma deaths which is due to mitigation efforts.

the best way to assess the impact of covid 19 is to talk to the people taking care of the patients.

Slipdigit & I just had this discussion.
Look at our posts at the top of this page & the previous one.

This is the link to CDC total of current confirmed + probable COVID infections & deaths:
    Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the U.S.
    1,152,372 infected & 67,456 dead.
Again, this is the current count of confirmed + probable COVID-19 infections & deaths.

67,456 dead...1,719 new deaths since yeasterday...How does this...too anyone other than Bronk & KB...Sound like the war is over?

Meanwhile, the link you and Slipdigit linked to is Provisional COVID deaths based on the cause of death as written on the death certificate. As the website states in it's "Tecnical Pages", and I pointed out earlier, there is a lag of 1-2 weeks in this number, hence it is far lower than the "current" number of confirmed & probables.

Two different data sets, both with useful data, but not necessarily useful for the same purpose.
