Nightcliff is a classy waterfront suburb around 10km North of the Darwin city centre. Modern apartments look out onto the azure Arafura Sea over palm lined bike trails and shady parkland. But just over the edge of the beach cliffs lies a dirty little secret; tonnes of rusting debris from WWII. There wa a military camp located there in 1942. (it was even one of the targets of the first deadly bombing raids on Darwin on 19th Feb, 1942). The Australian and American armies and the RAAF dumped military equipment including aircraft engines over the cliffs in front of where the Nightcliff swimming pool now stands. You can still see the corroded remains on the rocks and beach.
Sorry about the walking sounds. Some that watch the videos love the sounds that go with where I am. Unfortunately that includes hearing me walking (and occasionally almost tripping over) around.
