Second attempt. As a base i used clay. Made waves with round part of small padlock. Then sprayed tamiya clear blue and see green. Sealed with layers of tamiya clear and some layers liquitex gloss gel. Made wake with gesso. Beautiful job! Looks great! Only a minor quibble...The USS HARRY W. HILL (DD-986) was one of seven SPRUANCE class destroyers never fitted with the Mk-41 VLS.
As built, the Spruance class could carry two SH-2 LAMPS I helicopters. Some - not sure if all - of the class were later fitted with the RAST (Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse) system which enabled them to operate the larger SH-60 LAMPS III. They could also accommodate the SH-3, normally the ASW helo on aircraft carriers, but I am not aware of those ever being assigned to Spruances.
