Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
What I really hate about HOI 2 is that the enemy persists to keep everything 1 division. and never make army groups. They just have a jillion divisions so you can see there flag build ups and that allows you to realize, yeah don't attack there..

Uhhh, no!
I'm far too aggressive for that! The only reason I mentioned this was because it wasn't till several games into my (short) HoI career that I actually discovered what the Dip sliders were for/what they did.
I found a happy medium, nations I could overrun easily and without an Allied DoW. Had too playtest it several times to get it right (and still have always managed to overlook 1 or 2 details each time, lol) and see what all my forces could get away with. I had it down too a working model, just had to finish off the 'rough spots' and all was good....Till I tried setting my Hawk---Dove slider one to the left. Once I did that, a French DoW was 100% before I could finish my biggest pre-war conquest!
I have since gone back and exchanged (after many many failed attempts to make all my conquests as usual with Hawk) my Hawk selection for a left click on the Standing---Drafted army slider, and this has solved the problem!
I had a really good game going yesterday, but there seems too be a bug with the naval combat system, as I keep crashing. It might be something with a combined fleet fighting the German fleet. And of course, I had not saved the game after the war started with Poland...
Very frustrating, cause I had gotten my Industry up to 272 in time for the 'Danzig or war' event. Thats 272 actual, 424 total! Really ticked me off, but now I'll just have too go back and start over and fix the other little mistakes I made along the way.

Never make army groups? I guess I don't understand? In your games they don't stack their units?

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Nope, they never do just hoards of single division armies.. quite a nuisance. Only positive for them is that all their generals are experienced

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Hmmm. Thats odd. I was thinking about starting a big battle, pausing the game, and setting all my units too use my MG too get them promoted. Can you tell if they are promoting their generals?
I have so far just played on the easiest settings, and the computer seems too be stacking his units for my enemies. What settings are you using?

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
I don't think I've paid attention enough;
ERR! Yeah they have The Germans got a hell-of-a-lot of Field Marshalls.
Im using Medium but Furious Agressiveness.
But I guess whats wrong of what I am talking about is, that I am speaking of Armageddon rather doomsday. Lately though later in the wars, I've seen more stacked units now.
Maybe its just a bug 36-49?

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
I know what you mean with the computer stacking single divisions...when I did my 'Alternate history' game, I allied with Poland (as Germany) and they stacked up all their army in Warsaw, that is 50 divisions all by themselves.

The most tank divisions I ever had?
64 as America 1946

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Wow! The most I had is about 8 as Germany. The rest where mechanized inf. Though I had 1 army of 12 normal inf. In the Balkans. And 1 motorised div.
My current game (Canada) it's 1938, I have 3 inf. and 1 armoured divisions, 1 tac. and 1 Ftr. groups, and my Navy is as follows.
1 CV (I)
1 CL (I)
1 DD (II)
Though a CA (II) will soon be joining them when I have done the research.

I never play Canada
I'm new at this forum (as you can see) and I was surprised to see a whole subforum dedicated to HoI...
As for the one-division armies, I think it's fixed in Armageddon, or was it the DAIM mod, I can't really remember...

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
First of all, Welcome to the forum!
Second, Canada is, IMHO, the most fun nation to play as. There are no threatening countries, which leaves you free to build up your army & economy. The starting IC isnt bad for a small country. Well, it's not small in size but you know what I mean!

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
The Anthology includes everything, I believe. Not entirely sure. When you start the game, you just pick the scenario you want to play. The Expansions, included in the Anthology, are exactly that and don't "replace" the original game.

Yes, the Anthology allows you to play HOI, HOI2, Doomsday and armageddon. And a special paradox medal too.

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Sounds good but will I be able to play my brother over the internet if we both purchase and install the game? And what is HO1, HO12? Sorry for my wealth of ignorance--i know you all have been playing for a while. This game interested me because it seems to be exactly what I have been looking for: as authentic an experience as possible in which players have the ability to manage all aspects of making war and global scale combat. Tho born 10 years after its close i am somewhat a student of WWII. I have told my brother of this forum and am hoping you veterans of H of I would be an occasional rescource for us. Many thanks. JK

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Yes, as long as you have the same version...when you open the game it tells you in top right corner. If you both buy the anthology and install the same patches in correct order, it will be fine.
HOI1 and HOI2 are the two Hearts of Iron Games, the 2nd one improving on the first one(and the addons improving and extending the 2nd one). Googling Hearts of Iron should bring you to the game website and forum associated it with it.

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
I have purchased the anthology disc so when it arrives Im expecting it will include HoI1, HoI2, and armageddon as advertised. So what is the order of patches and the procedure for adding them all to my game. Again, sorry for the ignorance. Am I right in thinking that I need to add The Total Realism Project AFTER the patches? ikeeptime

Re: Hearts of Iron II Doomsday Discussion
Yes the TRP is after the patches you go to the main site of paradox and it's all there. You just need to add the latest patch for Armagedon iirc...
Cheers...
