Forum Controlled Game

You, the Rogue's of the Forums, get to dictate how I play my next HOI II DD Game. If you're interested, let me know, so i know who to expect responses on a weekly basis from. I decided to make the whole HOI II DD thing a little more interactive for people who don't have the game. I'll post a lot more screenshots and all those other lovely things.

So the first order of business is which country do we want to play as?

Other (Italy, France, Nationalist Spain, Republican Spain, Brazil, etc)

The choices appear in the poll below, but you most post with a response if you pick OTHER. Those choices listed in OTHER include countries I am currently playing as, or countries that won't be as exciting to play as based on location and size etc.

Once a country is decided upon, the fun can begin!

Well its a 3 way tie between the USSR, USA and Germany at this point. I'll give until the end of the week for people to vote (at which point i should be pretty set up at home).

I should be able to order a 500GB HD and 2GB Memory tomorrow (total of $150) since i have to deposit my checks today after work (few more hours) so that stuff should arrive in 3 days = friday if i am lucky.

If that is the case, expect to see me playing many many games this weekend!

A Belgium or Holland campaign would be very short lived unless they ally with the Axis - only the slimmest of chances as far as surviving that way. Just based on the interest, I might do whatever campaign you guys pick and a Belgium Campaign.

A few countries with 1 vote, but the UK and Belgium are tied for first place with 2 votes. Now, i've seen that many Rogues have looked at this thread and havent voted - so even if you don't care about the game or anything, please vote!

This is getting interesting. I would have expected most people to votr efor the more classical long range options but I admit the belgium England contest is quite nice. I hope more Rogues will vote too because two or three votes for a country are not representative enough.

I think Germany is a fun county to play as. In my most recent game, I avoided war with Britain, France and the USSR, but instead picked on the smaller countries around me (And now I have territory in S.America in a recent war between Argentina and Chile (I was allied to Argentina), and Britain has recently annexed Brazil (?)

Navel fighting is too easy. Build the CVs and watch everything else go down. Doubley quick if you get navel bombers.

I picked Poland, for you. If you want I could start a parallel game in HOI 2 (no DD) and at some point we could diverge.

Roger that on the CVs, you should see the kills Graf Zeppelin and Peter Strasser have got! It's more than the rest of my entire navy put together!

Could be interesting though last time i played it was buggy when attacking Comm China. Will check it out this weekend (ordered 500GB HD and 2GB Memory today -expected 2 day delivery). In my Nat. Spain game right now (which is turning pretty ugly for the Allies) the Japanese annexed Nationalist China AND Communist China! Simply amazing if i may say so myself. Nationalist China has been released as a puppet of Japan. I'd be shitting myself in the pacific if i was with the allies.

The UK, Germany and Belgium are all tied with 2 votes now! I know more Rogues have viewed this thread then voted, so I ask those who are reading this who have not voted to do so.

Once i start the game, I will ask you Rogues which Technologies to Research, what I should Produce, who I should ally with, who I should attack, general attack plan, etc. Basically, you Rogues will run the show and I will post reports and images of what is happening.

I played as both Germany and Nat. China. Germany was very easy to play. I started the game in 1941 and brought the Russians to my knees by 1943. I don't think it is possible to loss when playing as Germany. I just concentrated all my panzers in the south and encircled 90% of the Russian divisions as I drove on to the Baltic. It was better to concentrate all the panzers in one place, attack the enemy from the rear to push them into one pocket that faces your own infantry, and cut them off.

I played as Germany again and invaded Russia in 1942. (By inputting a cheat code, I was able to make peace with Russia in the beginning of the 1941 campaign) I completely upgraded my army and formed 5-6 new panzer armies by1942. (Each with 4 panzer divisions and 4 motorized divisions). I destroyed the entire Russian army that faced me without the loss of a single division with three encircling movements. Captured Moscow and Stalingrad in 1943, and the Russians made peace.

Nat. China was much harder. I allied myself with the warlords and was able to hold the Japanese in the north with about 150 divisions. Somehow the Japanese declared war on Russia in 1942, and I was able to push them off the continent around 1944. (By then the Germans were fighting in Tibet) But I had to start over a few times because it was over when the Japanese had successfully landed in the south. It was a fun game for the first two weeks, but after that it wasn't challenging anymore.

I have voted for Germany because it was more fun to play.

Well I play the game starting in 1936 and as you should know, the **** can really hit the fan! When AI controls Germany, they tend to lose. And for some one like me who has only played as Italy as far as big names go, a game as Germany will be challenging, especially since you Rogues will determine what I do.

Yeah, thats why i might still do it just for fun. It'll be more along the lines of sitting around, waiting for the Germans to attack in '39/'40. Putting up a defense against initial attacks, but then being steamrolled as force pool runs out along with supplies. Action will be over even as it starts. Though I could just evacuate Belgium itself and camp out in Africa.
