Amazon still has it listed as released today, and available for purchase, though 2-4 week shipping. I hate when the dates get screwed up!

With a dual-core and two awesome video cards, it most definitely will! I'd be surprised if it lagged, but it also depends on how detailed the screen is.

Going to be a long day...gotta go to BBQ after work today (cousins in town). Might stop home to start install first though.

I'm impressed by the visuals so far. I also appreciate the Screen Resolution - which in previous versions of HOI could not fill my screen. I played for about 5 minutes last night, thinking i'd play for an hour before I went to bed, but there is so much new stuff that I felt vastly overwhelmed and decided to go straight to bed (was exhausted from lack of sleep over last week or so).

Some one needs to host a "HOI III 101 Class" on it! lol

wow i have an annoying problem

As britain in the 1944 campaign, i have numerous forces stationed in Normandy. I have many, many more in my country. The American Forces are under my control as well.

I bring reinforcements into Normandy, but my attacks bog down so fast. Why? No supply. I try to turn off auto manage and bring in supply convoys, but the convoys are so limited. Also, provinces in supply dont seem to share sometimes, leaving neighboring provinces empty. Soon, Normandy is entirely undersupplied. I try pulling out some troops to lessen the burden, but its no use. Within another two months Germany has counterattacked, and I hastily evacuated successfully all of my troops.

WHAT IS WITH THE SUPPLY?

Possibly a problem with French supply? You are liberating French Territories, and as your ally, I think they are supposed to supply your troops. I could be wrong.

I don't think so. The provinces are listed as German provinces occupied by the UK.

I have already told SOAR21 but for the help of any other poor soul;
There is a new feature in HOI3 that affects supply movement. Think about this in real life. you have 1 road. That road is scarred due to heavy fighting. You try to move hundreds of trucks along that road to resupply your troops. The trucks get bottlenecked along that one road and the supplies cannot get though.
In HOi3, infrastructure is much more important than it was in HOi2.

Joe btw I tried waiting to repair infrastructure. I planned my attacks, and took it slowly. Supplies built up. My much superior air force kept the skies clear. However, I brought in a few more divisions (the Canadian Corps) As they entered the fray, suddenly the supply dropped to a trickle. Those four divisions really pushed the supply problems.

I gave up on trying to do British in 1944. Americans are much funner.

Actually, Diplomacy is SUPER IMPORTANT now.
I played a 1936 Germany campaign. Having so much on my mind, I kinda relegated diplomacy to a lower importance. Too bad. Not only did many countries join the Allies by 1938, Czechoslovakia was one of them. Meaning the annexation of the Sudetenland wasn't going to happen. Which meant that there was a HUGE bulge into my lines. Switzerland was one, too. And so was Denmark. And the Low Countries (not Luxembourg though). When war was declared I was screwed. The Czech easily held back my minimum border force, and I was spread thin along the entire western border. I easily took Denmark, then moved those units down to fight off Yugoslavia. However, France started to take Italy. Now I had to help out my useless allies. And the Czech were just getting stronger. As for Poland, it was hard to take it with the entire right flank open to the Czech forces. To make things worse, the British actually HELP in HoI3. Needless to say I actually lost. Diplomacy can be everything.

Guys, Please forgive me but I have a few questions. I have not played HOI 2 but went from 1 straight to 3. The structier of the game is completly diffrent from what I'm used to.

How should I be using the HQ's? Should I leave them off the line or send them in with the rest of my divisions?

If I should leave them off the line how far back is too far?

Do I have to manually send in supplies? I keep running out. My ports are recieving more than I need but the troops are not recieving any.

Mike - the difference between HOI 2 and HOI 3 is just as drastic, trust me! The first time I launched HOI 3 as the Italians, I took one look at the map and went and the closed the game, curled up into the fetal position in the corner, and....

In other words, the game is pretty overwhelming at first and has a steep learning curve even for HOI Vets!

The game is somewhere on the road to my house.

I have done a bit of creative thinking before purchase this time around, specially regarding unit structure.

From Sun Tzu we learn about the importance of the "ordinary force" and the "extraordinary force".

I translate the ordinary force to a heavy (infantry?) div, holding the line and the extraordinary force to swift smaller forces (armour?) doing the nessecary manouvre.

If I am right in that thesis, and the supply situation that you guys describe ring true it is possible to fight according to the manouvre warfare doctrine in the game.

From my understanding of the game, I think you are right, since it is nearly impossible to garrison every province on the front (given that there are 5 times more territories this time around) so the 'Cannon Fodder' needs to hold the line while faster moving specialized units do the dirty work of pushing forward.

The swift force in my imagination is based on the British Armoured division of 1944. 1 Armd bde, 1 Mech inf Bde, 1 Art bde ad 1 AA bde (If airpower is as devastating as in HOI2 on lonely armd divs)

This adds up to a small frontage beeing taken up, a fast "self supporting force" and it doesn't eat a lot of manpower.

The regular force is pretty much blank, but I envisonage infantry heavy with plenty of support.

It comes down to what the airforce can do to support the ordinary force as it attack the encircled enemy.
