I know this is a longshot, but does anyone have any old german manuals or any info or sources at all on german fighting positions like dugouts, bunkers, etc.? I'm mainly talking about those dug in the field for maybe 6 men, not concrete pillboxes. We're going to be working on one for a good part of the summer, and we wanted to do it right! Any info will help.

Yer in luck Doc. I have been working on that information for my reenactment unit for some time now. What exactly are you looking for?

I have information on communication & fighting trenches, foxholes and fire trenches for 2 men, Foxhole for LMG or Panzerbüsche with 2 Soldiers, Foxhole and dugout for 2 riflemen/LMG dugout for 3 men, Foxhole for the HMG, Foxhole for the HMG with dugout, Nest for the heavy mortar, Emplacement for the LeIG 18, and Nest of a Squad (Foxholes)

These have all been translated into english and meters have all been changed into feet. Please let me know which ones you want and I will get them to me. Also, remember if you reprint them to please list me as your source.

Thanks,

Dane

Man, you are the greatest!

I think the foxhole and dugout for 2 riflemen/LMG
dugout for 3 men tops the list. I'm not sure that we are going to be "allowed" anything bigger than that, although I'd be interested in anything else you felt like sending.

I won't be reprinting the info, but sharing it with a few guys who will be doing this with me, and I'll make sure to credit you when I send it to them over email.

Again, thanks alot. I really didn't think we'd be getting any help with this!!!
