G'day

In a carbootsale I found a coloured field service cap, but I can't find what unit it could belong to. It's got a orange crown, black body, curtain and peak with an orange curtain piping. The badge has already gone but there is also a British button on the front. On the inside is written
"Nick. Swing 309550 ". Have looked in the Brian Davis book and Boucherry book but can't find this colourcode. Can anybody give me a clue where to find the answer.

Cheers Popski

Sorry, Popski - we've all gone rather quiet !

I don't recognize this at all from the description. Is it definitely orange, and not maybe faded red ? Also, that button - any clue such as regiment or organization motto, maybe ?

G'day Martin

It is definately orange. The clue of the name,I checked the Wargrave site and he wasn't mentioned. The number inside would suggest an early "Cavalry of the line" number, if I'm right looking in the Brian Davis book. We just keep on looking.

G'day

The above mentioned field cap might be Dutch. Have asked the regimental museum of the "Prinses Irene Brigade"if this could be true. If it is it is very rare, lucky me.

Keep you posted Popski
