I got this request in an email. Can anyone help identify this Japanese bomb?
"I have this Det from a Japanese Bomb. It was given to me by my grandfather over 25 yrs ago. All that I know that he got it from some-one in the Navy. My grandfather was from Coventry in the UK. I have been trying to find out about it for the last few years. But to no joy.
Hoping that you can help or point me in the right direction.
Many Thanks
David Robertson"
Anyone up on their Japanese detonators?

I know almost nothing about ordanence but, it Does look like it is a latter half of the war design, as it has stabelizers next to the propeller--better accuracy less the turbulence--just a guess anyway. I couldnt even imagine a guess to what poundage of a bomb it belings too.

I think you may find that this detonator comes from a specially modified 250kg-500kg bomb group used in specialised mission against the Allied Navies c1943-onwards.
It seems to be far more refined in it's finish than some earlier war examples-hope i am right-otherwise i will just sound like another one of those "experts" who are always feeding us horseshit on the Discovery Channel...

Wow, I'm impressed, a three month follow up post! Unfortunately I know very little about his bomb. I posted it as a favour for someone who emailed me those two photos.
