Cool

I have a friend who's father was a crewman on a Liberator over Ploesti. His aircraft was later shot down and he spent the rest of the war in a prison camp. I would like to know if there is a site that would contain the letter/number designators found on the side of these aircraft that my friend could use to find his father's stricken bird, crew, history, etc.?

try here for a start:

www.armyairforces.com

read the directions on the front page before posting on the forums. You will probably be able to post directly on the heavy bombers forum since U do not know what bomb group the gent was in ?

there are many accomplished researchers here as well as vets. I post quite a bit only becuase of my Luftwaffe database which I open freely for the veterans and their families visiting this choice site.....

good luck !
