No problem, i will post a full Bio for Bodo later today when i have more time.
I will dig out my stuff on Kurt Schliessmann,he won the RK ON 18/1/45 as a Hauptmann Commanding 1/Sturmgeschutz Brigade 286.
Incidentally i met him at a meeting in Germany last year,

Erich,
Some short info on Schliessmann translated from German !!!
His award of the RK was as a result of actions West of Miskolc on the Eastern Front on 16th November 1944.
He was born 6/8/20 in Friedrichshafen/Bodensee and was also awarded the EKII, EKI ,Wound badge in Silber,General Assault Badge,Close Combat Clasp (Don't know what grade),DKiG in April 1943.
Thats all i've got i'm afraid,is there anything specific you want to know ?

Erich,
Haven't got enough info on Schliessmann to be able to answer that one i'm afraid, i hope to see him again later in the year so will ask him direct.
The same for Bodo as well i have asked him before but he has never really answered this question.

Paul, I can wait no problem. Maybe Bodo is like many and does not talk about his war-carrer ?

Hi Erich,
Bodo is quite open about his wartime career and we spoke at length about it,he just never seemed to answer that particular question,i guess he feels that it doesn't really matter anymore and maybe looking back at the "Kills" he had is not a good memory now.

Paul it is usually why I don't point to one particular mission/kill with Luftwaffe vets, although I may aks them which was their roughest and let them explain if they so desire.
Günther Rall has said even on TV and video that he can recall all of his victories like they were yesterday but yet they were all one in the same. Someone had to die......

Yes i think you are right Erich,i think Gunther Ralls view is probably that of many veterans where now looking back they can now relate statistics like that to the actual loss of human life.
At the time it was about survival and doing your job.I;ve often thought how Snipers feel about Kiil counts as theirs was a particulary singular Battle one at time.
I must admit most of the veterans i have spoken to are not interested in discussing Kill counts although many will give total number of Tanks and AFV's destroyed in their Military History.

Paul can you share with all of us whom you met at the recent Luftwaffe treffen ? Hopefully this will not be a problem........ How do Drewes and Rökker look these days ?
also a side note. My PC looks like it has come to it's end from a message I received today. somehow I will send the requested bio information on the two Luftwaffe aces to you. The PC I am using via the family is not allowing me to send out e-mails to anyone now on this board so i will try a private to you which hopefully you can copy.

Hi,
If possible please could someone PM or email me the address of Günther Rall as I would like to write to an RK with Oakleaves and Swords as I have only wrote to one in the past. Does anyone know how many RKT's with OL and Swords are still alive?
Also does anyone have Kurt Schließmann's address? as I have wrote to the majority who are still replying on Carls list.
Thanks
Phil

Phil write me a private please !
For the Luftwaffe day and night fighter aces, there is :
Gunther Rall
Hajo Hermann
Erich Rudorffer, which I just heard he is not responding any more ?
Ernst Wilhelm Reinert which I had heard about a year ago he was not well at all but do not know his health at this time.
that is it !
